Booming Fireworks Confused For Reported Gunshots
Well, let’s take you over to Freehold. On Tuesday, gunshot reports were coming in that turned out to be fireworks.
According to the Freehold Township Police, It was right around AMC Freehold 14 movie theater at 101 Trotters Way. Thank God no reports of anyone being injured were reported according to the Freehold Township Police Department’s Facebook page.
What We Know About These “Gunshot Reports”…
Police first received reports of shots fired at 11:26 p.m. on Tuesday, and after a long look into this and after looking through some of the local videos and talking to witnesses, police determined the gunshots were fireworks being set off behind the movie theater. Police did not say who set off the fireworks.
Some of the people have commented on this saying “I was there last night with my friend and terrified when someone told the crowd to start running and get out of the building. Thank you for your service and for responding so quickly.” I mean I don’t know why someone would be lighting off fireworks in August, but I’m glad it was just that, and not real gunshots.

I’m sure there is an investigation going on, but I have a feeling it was a couple of kids who were just out and about and doing what kids do. I know when I was growing up we would be lighting off fireworks the second we got our hands on them, and couldn’t find the lighter fast enough.
We had all types of fireworks going, such as Bottle Rockets, to the usual firecrackers, but my favorite was the one called ” The Pink Elephant,” that bad boy was like a quarter stick of dynamite. I remember blowing up my parents’ garbage can with that! Of course, the police were called, and they were doing their jobs. We were kids so I guess if you think about it we were doing our jobs too. Just grateful everyone is okay out of this story.
