Asbury Park Artist Stabbed On Labor Day, One Person In Custody
There is some sad and crazy news to report, as a local Asbury Park artist and photographer who was identified as Andrea Laign was attacked and stabbed by some random guy. Just out of now, this nut job attacked Andrea as she was just walking with a friend. According to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, on Monday, the Asbury Park Police Department got a call of an attack at the 500 block of Asbury Avenue. When the police officers got to the scene they saw the female victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. A bunch of bystanders were giving aid to her at the time of the officers' arrival. She was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center and is in critical condition, there is a GoFundMe page set up for her, and has already raised just over $28,000. Who Was The Person Who Attacked The Asbury Park Artist The attacker was Travis A. Cavanaugh, 39, and he was arrested at the scene. Investigators said Cavanaugh came up behind Andrea Laign and continued to stab her until a witness stopped him. He is being charged with first-degree Attempted Murder, Third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose (knife), and Fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago. Now don't forget this investigation is still ongoing at this time.
