BERLIN, GERMANY - NOVEMBER 21: Christmas candy and candy canes stand on display for sale at the Christmas market at Gendarmenmarkt square on the market's opening day on November 21, 2011 in Berlin, Germany. Christmas markets, which usually sell Christmas tree ornaments, gluhwein, ginger bread and hand-made crafts, are an intrinsic part of central European Christmas tradition.

This just blew my mind. A poll just came out from Brach's Candy Company, and they were reported saying that candy canes are more likely to be used as decorations than food. 60% of us use them to decorate, and 58% eat them. Moreover, we do love our candy canes, though. 80% love them this time of year, 77% would describe them as "refreshing," and another 75% would even say "delicious."

Also, the poll says, "In fact, our recent survey found that the majority of Americans listen to holiday music while cooking or baking (61%) and decorating the house (59%), so there's no better way to welcome the holiday spirit than with a custom BRACH'S Candy Cane Carol and the holiday peppermint treat."

Gotts Thoughts On Candy Canes Being Eaten Or Just Used For Decorations

When I was growing up, Mom and Dad helped put up the Christmas tree with all the lights and ornaments. We would eat the candy canes that were supposed to be hung on the tree before they even made it there.

My brothers and I would have them out of the box and in our hands, with our parents yelling at us to stop eating them. I even still remember all the different flavors, that my parents would have to. We would be eating them even way after Christmas, ( that's if any were left over.)

To me, the candy canes on the Christmas tree, are for when the family comes over, and they bring their kids and you should let them enjoy the candy. Trying to tell them you can't have them until after dinner is another story though. So from my family to yours HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Gotts is the unofficial mascot of the county. Whenever WRAT is hosting an event, people ask if Gotts will be there. there. Like Bigfoot, many people claim to see him in the area. According to Gotts, he was thrown out of home school in Monroe Township. To keep up with his own legend, Gotts likes writing about wacky local news that happens – such as pepperoni vandals. His favorite movie is Point Break, and is a big lover of Miller Lite. His favorite words to live by are “The windshield is always bigger than the rearview mirror”.
