Some of The Best Wings Can Be Found At This Ocean County Restaurant
Some of Ocean County’s best wings can be found in Beachwood, N.J.
This place has been brought to my attention countless times. From my friend Mike’s recommendation of the best hangar steak he’s had in a long time, to the folks I associate with on social media food pages who insist I hit this place for several different menu items.
Last Thursday was the day from Hell. It was one of those days where nothing was going right. My office and air studio computers refused to cooperate, some computer programs on my office computer were not operating properly, and everyone seemed to be exhausted or on edge. I wasn’t alone in my day of misery.
These things happen infrequently. I like to keep things in perspective by keeping in mind that life for the most part is good.
I remain grateful for another day on Earth, my kitty cat Oscar, the roof over my head, the food on my table, and the ability to pay for it all.
I left the office after 5pm and sat in traffic on the Garden State Parkway for what seemed like an eternity. While sitting in traffic, I called my husband at work and told him that we were going out to dinner to a place that serves adult beverages. I need a martini!
When I got home, we wrestled with the age-old question. Where do we go for dinner?
Where Can I Find Some Of The Best Wings In Ocean County?
I usually refer to all the food articles I’ve written to find a place we love or haven’t been to before. Then I came across one of my listicles that mentioned the “Stone Fire Grille” on Atlantic City Boulevard in Beachwood.
It’s a 15-minute drive from the house and they have a bar.
We entered the place from an outside deck into a dimly lit restaurant. The hostess seated us in a booth situated just outside the bar area. The first thing I ordered was a dirty Tito’s martini, straight up with 3 olives. Life got just a little bit better after the first sip.
My martini was promptly delivered and now on to our order. I remember hearing the wings here were great, so I ordered a plate of garlic parmesan wings with a side of bleu cheese dressing.
For dinner, I ordered a sandwich called, “Chicken Downtown.” It’s 2 Chicken Cutlets, topped with Sauteed Spinach, Whipped Garlic Ricotta Cheese Spread, Tomatoes, and Aged Provolone on a Ciabatta roll.
Bruce ordered the Crab Cake Dinner: Two Maryland Crab Cakes served with Whipped Potatoes and Sauteed Spinach with Old Bay Remoulade Sauce.
I was glad I ordered these wings, they were remarkable. 10 meaty wings (both flats & drums) immersed in garlic parmesan flavor. They didn’t need the side of bleu cheese dressing or any other condiment for that matter.
Bruce is not a wing guy, but I insisted he try them and he loved them too.

Then our entrees arrived, and we dug in. The chicken cutlets were cooked perfectly, and the whipped ricotta spread was a nice touch. The dish came with a side of marinara dipping sauce. Overall, I really liked it.
Bruce’s crab cakes were not loaded with filler, which is always a plus when ordering crab cakes in a non-seafood restaurant. They were tasty and the Old Bay remoulade was a fantastic accompaniment.
The other thing on my plate that really stood out were the shoestring fries that came with my meal. Holy moly were they good! I like when I don’t have to add salt to my fries. They came to the table hot and perfectly seasoned.
Across from the dining room behind closed French doors is the bar, which was packed with patrons eating, drinking, and playing trivia with the host behind the bar. It was loud enough for us to hear the trivia questions that were being asked.
We entertained one another by exchanging all the right answers amongst ourselves while the people at the table behind us were talking out loud exchanging all the wrong answers with each other.
There was a question about who led the Revolutionary War and the guy behind us said, “Oh, I know this one, it’s Robert E. Lee!”
Sorry pal, that was the Civil War. The Stone Fire Grill has good service, excellent wings, and entertaining patrons.
