Davey Mac Sings With Holiday Express At Their Count Basie Christmas Concert
Good morning, Rat Rock Nation! Davey Mac of the Morning Rat Race here and I’m still flying high with Christmas spirit today after last night’s amazing Holiday Express concert at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank! What a time!
And that’s when it happened. Holiday Express founder and bandleader Tim McCloone invited me onstage (after a wonderful introduction for 95.9 The Rat and myself) and asked me to join in on a song. A song by…Stevie Wonder! Oh, my! I mean…I can pull off a Bing Crosby and a little Johnny Mathis and maybe one or two Elvis Christmas songs…but Stevie Wonder?! He’s one of THE greatest singers ever! Check out the footage and decide for yourself!
Not bad, eh? I said NOT BAD, EH?! Nevermind…don’t answer that question. I thought I did grand and so did my new singing partner April. She’s the nice lady I was singing with. Incidentally, and this is pretty cool, the guy with the acoustic guitar that you see circled in between April and me is Dr. Elmo Shrophsire…the actual singer and writer of “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer.” How awesome is that?!
Anyway, it was a truly magical evening. In all honesty, the people and musicians of Holiday Express do an AMAZING job. The songs were absolutely tremendous, the vibe was really special, and atmosphere was festive, Count Basie has never looked better, and it’s the Holiday Season! What a night! Like a sort of Last Waltz for Christmas in Jersey! Thank you, Tim McCloone and everyone at Holiday Express! Merry Christmas! See you all in 2024! Have a safe and warm and happy holiday season! Slainte from the McDonald Family and 95.9 The Rat!
