Rocking The Grand Opening of the Carteret Performing Arts Center on December 4!
The Smithereens are coming home this Saturday! Carteret natives Jim Babjack, Dennis Diken, and Mike Mesaros will open up the brand new Carteret Performing Arts Center! Filling in on vocals for the late Pat DiNizio are Gin Blossoms singer Robin Wilson and Marshall Crenshaw. It is the first time both singers will appear together with The Smithereens. December 4 promises to be an epic, historic date! Jim Babjack will call in to Jersey Rock on 95.9 The Rat this Wednesday at 11:30 pm to tell us more!

The Carteret Performing Arts Center sits on the site of the former Ritz Theater. It is a versatile, multi-level space that will serve as a “destination for the performing arts, educational events, live entertainment, and community engagement.” The Carteret PAC features a main floor with theater seating dedicated to concerts, comedy shows, and various entertainment endeavors. The venue also has a lower level comedy/jazz club with a piano lounge and a rooftop lounge. It promises to be a destination for the arts and entertainment for many years to come. Following a gubernatorial ribbon cutting,The Smithereens will christen the new space!

2022 will mark the 42nd year for New Jersey Hall of Famers The Smithereens. The band is currently working on new material. Following the 2017 passing of singer/songwriter Pat DiNizio, the future of the legendary NJ act was definitely in question. However, The Smithereens found a way to continue. While DiNizio, is irreplaceable, Robin Wilson and Marshall Crenshaw have done an incredible job of stepping in. Check out live video performances below featuring both singers!
