Yacht Rock Sundays Kick Off This Week At Bar A
Yacht Rock Sundays. It’s a vibe, people. Sometimes you gotta put down the Sabbath and Metallica, and get in touch with your inner middle-class, middle-aged white guy, longing to be a rich middle-aged white guy. Sometimes you gotta throw on a little Baker Street, put on your best Hawaiian shirt and Captain’s hat, grab your best girl, and head to the beach. Or the boat. Or Bar A. I’ve loved Yacht Rock since before I was even dragged to my first show by my wife! I just didn’t know it.

Yacht Rock Sundays Are Especially Needed This Year.
No, not because two guys who own yachts are battling for the Presidency, it’s much more serious than that! The greatest Yacht Rock band of all time, Yacht Rock Revue is NOT scheduled to play the Stone Pony Summer Stage this season! Instead, they are on the opening slot of the Train/REO Speedwagon Summer Tour, which hits our area in August. A well-deserved honor for sure. But I can’t get excited about seeing those guys play a half hour in front of 500 people, while thousands of ignorant souls party in the PNC parking lot.
I need my Yacht Rock Sundays. My wife needs her Yacht Rock Sundays. The poor woman just got new sandals!
Bar A To The Rescue!
According to Bar A’s Facebook Page, This Sunday, June 9th you can “Kick Off the HOTTEST New Sunday on the Jersey Shore with the HOTTEST New Band on the Jersey Shore, SUIT & MAI TAI!!“
In addition to the great Yacht Rock tunes every Sunday, there will be some kick ass summertime beer and seafood specials, even Thurston Howell would Lovey!

A Guide to The Best Homemade Ice Cream Shops in Ocean County.
Warm weather has arrived and many of the ice cream shops in Ocean County are open and ready to serve you.
You’re never far away from good homemade ice cream on the Jersey Shore.
Sure, you can go to commercial shops like Mister Softee, Carvel, and Dairy Queen, they’re yummy too. But why not venture out and try the other local shops that make their inventive homemade flavors of this cold creamy treat?
Lots of them are small-batch recipes with unusual flavors. I will try any flavor at least once. I have tried homemade garlic ice cream before and it’s an acquired taste. Never again.
Out of the way chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, it’s time to venture out of our comfort zone and try some rather unique combinations to wake up our palates.
I scoured the internet to see if I could find a handful of unusual ice cream flavors and the first one, I came across was cinnamon-basil with a vanilla ice cream base…hmmm.
The 2 strangest combinations were Bleu cheese ice cream with pomegranate ripple and a balsamic vinegar and fruit ice cream. I’d try them, why not?
One of my favorite unique flavors is sweet corn ice cream with actual corn kernels mixed in. Think about how delicious Jersey corn is when it arrives in July, and then add sweet cream. To me, that’s a winning combination.
While doing my research, I realized just how many places make ice cream in-house across Monmouth & Ocean County. I had no idea there were that many places with homemade ice cream.
I guess I just got used to going to a few places and never ventured out to see who else creates these frozen dessert treats.
Right now, I’m going to stick with Ocean County. The Monmouth County list will come in a few days.

Muller's Creamery - 53 Main St, Toms River, NJ 08753
This place had me at Cappuccino Coffee Crunch Custard! I love that they also have ice cream cups for your pup. Muller’s Creamery makes their own sprinkles too! I think I’m in love. You may be familiar with Muller’s ice cream cart under their blue tent from all of the downtown Toms River events. Now they have their very own store specializing in homemade premium ice cream in both traditional and not so traditional flavors.
