Point Pleasant Beach Is The Setting For A New Mystery Series
Author J.T. Kunkel has chosen to use Point Pleasant Beach as the backdrop for his upcoming mystery series, “Under The Influence.”
The first book of the mystery series, due out March 2024, stars a female crime solving super sleuth named Cordelia Corbett.
Why The Author Chose Point Pleasant For The Mystery’s Setting
According to the Patch, the author said he chose Point Pleasant Beach in part because he has come to the Jersey Shore many times over the years since he and his wife, Susan, were married.
“This is a cozy mystery series, and small towns make the perfect setting for those,” Kunkel said, adding Point Pleasant Beach is “just a charming place.”
In his first attempt at fiction, Kunkel uses real life local businesses in his upcoming novel such as Kohr’s Frozen Custard, the Food Shack and The Little Point Bookshop.
That excites me! It should also excite the Jersey Shore locals as well as the summer visitors.
We are all familiar with those businesses and it helps promote this lovely shore town.
In the upcoming novel 30-year-old Cordelia Corbett returns to Point Pleasant Beach after 16 years away and rejoins her former boss at Kohr’s Frozen Custard. It’s not long before they come across a crime scene on the boardwalk.
A crime scene, on our beloved boardwalk? Remember, this is a novel of fiction.
“Cordelia is drawn to a handsome stranger as they both lend a hand,” the novel’s plot description says. “Soon, love may be in the air between them, if they can stop butting heads long enough to let it grow. Or will Cordelia’s new obsession with crime-solving stand between them?”
According to the author’s online bio: I am a lifetime singer/ songwriter. When I realized, to be successful, I needed to move to Nashville, I decided to keep my day job. Writing a novel has been a lifetime dream. After completing a memoir after a bout with a serious illness, I decided to take a chance at fiction. I live in the Northeast and work in high finance during the day.
This man proves that chasing your dreams is not a waste of time.
The book is set for release on March 20, 2024 via Fire Ship Press and can be pre-ordered now.
