The Most Google Searched Rock Band In New Jersey.
A company has done a study and found what rock band is has the most Google searches for each state, including New Jersey!
The analytics based organization, Go Fish Digital, used the following methodology to come up with their results. To determine the most popular classic rock band in every state, they created a list of 70 rock bands that were at their peak popularity pre-1990. Using the bands as a list of search terms, they analyzed each band’s Google Trends search interest from 2004 to 2023. Furthermore, by comparing the search interest state-by-state they were able to find the classic rock groups that are still being searched across the U.S. today. Specifically, they used search interest as a measure of popularity for this study.
Here are some of the findings.
The study found that overall, Van Halen and Guns N Roses were the big winners, with number one rankings in five states each. Meanwhile, ZZ Top and Queen were next with 4 states a piece. Next was the Doobie Brothers with three states having the group as their top Google search. Rounding out the top Google searches was a five way tie with two states each for Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kiss, Judas Priest, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and The Eagles. Yeah, but what about Jersey??? When the hell do we find out about Jersey???
Well friend, you’re half way there…
Just kidding. It was my lame attempt at a pun. Because the number one most searched band on Google from New Jersey, is, well, from New Jersey! That’s right, no shock and awe.
Just good old Bon Jovi! Yup. Bon Friggin’ Jovi is the most searched Google band name by people living in the Garden State over the last 12 months, according to this study.
Here’s some other interesting facts from the study.
New York City punk icons the Ramones were number one in of all places, California. Meanwhile, ELO where tops in Ohio! Furthermore, the Beatles were ranked best in Nevada, Rush in Utah, and the Scorpions in New Mexico, where I think there may actually be real scorpions.
However New Jersey isn’t the only state with a boring, all too obvious choice. Georgia took hometown heroes The Allman Brothers Band as well.
