Let’s start with baseball. Where the Mets beat the Cardinals last night…4 to 2. Met first baseman Pete Alonso slugged his 37th home run of the year…as the Mets improve to 56 and 66.

The Yankees and Phillies were off. The Yankees take on the Red Sox this evening for a series in Yankee Stadium. The Yanks come in to the game at 60 and 61 and in last place in the A.L. East in what has been a disastrous season.

The Phillies, meanwhile, go against the Nationals in D.C. The Phillies are 66 and 55…and are in the first, National League, Wild Card spot.

Football. The Eagles and Cleveland Browns tied last night at 18 to 18…but the big story was that two Eagles players had to be carted off the field with neck injuries…receiver Tyrie Cleveland and rookie defensive lineman Moro Ojomo were said to be moving their extremities after two scary situations.

Basketball. The NBA announced is opening night games yesterday…the defending champion Denver Nuggets will play the L.A. Lakers. And then the Phoenix Suns will take on the Golden State Warriors. So there you go!

Soccer. Former two-time Women’s World Cup-winning coach Jill Ellis said the failure of the United States women’s national team at this year’s tournament should galvanize leaders to make changes and be a turning point in the sport in the country. Hopefully that’s the case.
