(WATCH) Jersey Rock Video of the Week: Jarod Clemons & The Late Nights – Clarence Clemons Celebration at The Wonder Bar
On Saturday January 6, 2024 Asbury Park’s world famous Wonder Bar served as a space for celebration. Amid a foreboding weather forecast, fans came out to honor the life of a New Jersey music legend. The Clarence Clemons Birthday Celebration rocked the house on what would have been the Big Man’s 82nd Birthday. The night was hosted by Clarence Clemons’ son Jarod Clemons and featured a long list of special guests. Speaking on Jersey Rock ahead of the celebration, Jarod Clemons said:
“We’re playing a lot of my Dad’s music. Some familiar ones and some not so familiar ones. It’s going to be a great time!”
And a great time it was! Fans in attendance were treated to a potent set list and a powerful lineup of musicians. It was nothing short of a unique moment in time. The present and future of the New Jersey music scene saluted the past, not just to champion the life and achievements of Clarence Clemons, but to support a very worthy cause. It addition to being a birthday celebration, the evening served as a benefit for Mary’s Place By The Sea, an Ocean Grove non-profit that aids women battling cancer.

Between the ages of 12 and 14 Jarod Clemons lost both of his parents. He moved in with his uncle and lost him 2 years later in a tragic house fire. The loss he experienced at such a young age and in such a short time has no doubt crafted his perspective on life. In the middle of the show, Jarod Clemons paused to address the crowd. He said:
“My Dad was a very spirited and soulful man. And he wasn’t big because of his size. He was big because of his heart….We miss him alot. Nobody could really forget, but I don’t want people to forget.”
Jarod Clemons continued:
“There’s a lot of stuff that I regret that I wish I could go back and change. My message tonight to everybody here is to love everybody. It doesn’t matter their race, their ethnicity, their religion, their beliefs, you love that person next to you. You don’t know what they are going through. “
From there the concert continued. The entire evening was captured on video by Domino Productions. You can view the complete concert below.
With what he accomplished on January 6 and what he continues to accomplish on the Jersey Rock scene Jarod Clemons is doing a phenomenal job of carrying on the legacy of both of his parents. Beyond the killer tunes and rousing performances, there is a lot of heart behind everything he puts out into the world. We look forward to seeing more of his big sound and bigger message.
