New Jersey’s Your Song Your Voice Singing Competition Is Back
The Partnership For A Drug Free New Jersey once again is taking submissions from High School students across the state for their Shout Down Drugs “Your Song, Your Voice” Singing/Songwriting competition!

Formerly known as New Jersey Shout Down Drugs since 2005, Your Song! Your Voice! Shout Down Drugs New Jersey has been rebranded with a new name that fully encompasses what the competition is all about. That is, challenging teens to create peer-to-peer original music, songs and lyrics in their own original style, whether it be hip-hop, rock, folk or any other genre. Each year the contestants’ songs are featured on ShoutDownDrugs.com. Meanwhile, the online voting periods allow the public to listen to and vote for their favorite songs.
To date, more than one million votes have been cast since the online voting feature began in 2010. Furthermore, the contest finalists participate in the annual virtual prevention concert. It’s during this event in which the first, second and third place winners are chosen by a panel of judges. Winners then receive contracts worth $5,000, 3,000 and $2,000 respectively to perform their award-winning songs at events throughout the year. The submission period is now open, and runs through March 24th, with the big event happening virtually, later next Spring.
Once again this year, 95-9 The Rat is thrilled to partner up with the Your Song your Voice crew, to not only promote this important event, but to take part in it as well.
Jimmy Steal will once again host the virtual festivities on May 8th 2024. Jim will also announce the winners live on air on the Rat immediately following the event! Furthermore, The Rat’s own Tom Hanley, will feature the winners on his weekly show Jersey Rock. The Rat’s Jersey Rock airs Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights at 11:30pm
