East Side Dave’s Top 5 James Caan Movies (With Clips)
Legendary actor James Caan has died at the age of 82 and he will be missed. Caan was a fantastic actor who delivered memorable performances in some cinema masterpieces.
And though he often played strong (if not intimidating) characters, Caan actually had tremendous range…being equally funny in comedies as he was intense in dramas.
Behold! It’s East Side Dave’s Top 5 James Caan Movies! With video clips! Rest in peace, James Caan!
5.) Elf
Hey, how many actors get to be in a Christmas classic? James Caan can! He was great in this hysterical flick with Will Ferrell which I now have in my Christmas movie rotation each December.
4.) Honeymoon In Vegas
Such an under-rated flick. James Caan is terrific and Nic Cage is nuts (and funny) in this really entertaining comedy.
3.) Brian’s Song
James Caan plays real-life football player Brian Piccolo and Billy Dee Williams stars as Gale Sayers in this famous and emotional sports film…where the two players bonded when they discovered that Piccolo was dying.
2.) Misery
Dark, funny, disturbing, insane, awesome. Misery rules and, really, it’s just the brilliant actors of James Caan and Kathy Bates who carry this crazy and fantastic movie.
1.) The Godfather
Come on. No role other than Sonny Corleone could be number one on this list. Not only is The Godfather celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year (good timing)…but the picture still holds up as one of the greatest movies of all time. And James Caan was amazing as Sonny. Fiery yet full of heart. Loyal but perhaps too impulsive. Sonny, like Caan, is an absolute legend.
