Jersey Rock Band of the Week: In Spite Of
In Spite Of hales from Marlboro. Driven by 2 lead singers, the central Jersey Alternative Rock band possesses a dynamic that sets them apart from most acts. In Spite Of’s unique sound earned them acclaim and the attention of those on the national scene. They shared the stage with a number of high-profile groups including Incubus, System Of A Down, Godsmack, and Something Corporate.
In Spite Of’s vocal harmony abilities are nothing short of impressive. Take away their instruments, and they can still put on a hell of a show. Their acapella capabilities were on full display on election day 2008, when they performed the National Anthem at halftime of a New Jersey Nets game at the Meadowland’s Izod Center. Check out the video of their on-court reherasal below!
In 2013 In Spite Of went their separate ways. Following a 6-year hiatus the band reunited earlier this year, rocking reunion show at The Saint in Asbury Park. The reunited group looks to once again making a serious impact on the Jersey Rock scene.
Tune to Jersey Rock on 95.9 The Rat Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30 pm to hear cuts from In Spite Of’s catalog. Band leader Raj Narayanan and singers Davin Alson and Joe Maranzani will call in to the show each night!
