Jersey Rock Band of the Week: Big Tom And The Guns
Rocking The Chubby Pickle in Highlands on Wednesday November 24!!!
Big Tom And The Guns is not an original music act. They are not a cover band. Nor are they a tribute band. Big Tom And The Guns is an experience. Their stage show is a brightly shining, glitter-filled Glam party. A performance includes over-the-top original tunes, killer covers, and outrageous audience interaction. Band members leave the stage to dance atop the bar, audience members storm the stage to dance around Big Tom and at some point the band will open fire on the entire venue with their home-engineered secret weapon: a toilet paper cannon. See a Big Tom And The Guns show and you will not forget the experience.
For over a decade Big Tom And The Guns was best experienced on the evening before Thanksgiving. Each year they rocked The Brighton Bar on what is arguably the biggest party night of the year. Each year the crowd got bigger, pushing the capacity of the legendary Long Branch Rock club to its breaking point. Then on Thanksgiving Eve 2020, an empty Brighton Bar sat silent. The covid-19 pandemic put a halt to the live tradition and permantly (we hope not) closed The Brighton Bar.
Big Tom And The Guns did find a way to reach their audience on Thanksgiving 2020 via The Jersey Rock Home Showcase. However, their powerful pre-recorded set was no substitute for seeing them in the flesh. Fans hoped to catch the band again in 2021 but with The Brighton Bar closed, hope was fading fast.
Enter The Chubby Pickle.
The Highlands venue has increasingly grown its footprint on the Jersey Rock scene over the last few years. After experiencing Big Tom And The Guns for themselves, the club forged a relationship with Central Jersey’s craziest live act. The live tradition will continue. Don’t miss Big Tom And The Guns on Wednesday November 24 at The Chubby Pickle in Highlands. It’s a FREE show so make sure you get in early or you might literally be left out in the cold.
Tune to Jersey Rock on 95.9 The Rat Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30 pm to hear cuts from Big Tom And The Guns! Guitar Player Jimmy Frankling (Working Class Musician) will call in to the show each night!
