Jersey Rock Band of the Week: The Poor Man’s Opera
“Barstool Confessional” Album Out Now!
The Poor Man’s Opera has been around the bars of NJ. They have played to both friendly and hostile patrons and learned to win all of them over. Originally a cover band, the group took things to the next level by incorporating their own original tunes into each show. Catching a performance affords a great opportunity to enjoy a pint and some old favorites. Even better, it can turn you on to some great new music.
The Poor Man’s Opera recently released their “Barstool Confessional” album. It features 13 tracks of original music that will play just as well in your living room as it will in your favorite bar. It is available everywhere music is sold. You can stream it, download the mp3 version, or purchase a physical CD. Check out all your options on amazon.com.
The Poor Man’s Opera is lead by Mark Moran. You may know him from his work with partner Mark Sceurman. The duo collect and publish “New Jersey’s local legends and best kept secrets” in the now legendary Weird NJ magazine. Issue #55 is available now at weirdnj.com. You can also catch Mark on the Travel Channel’s “Paranormal Caught On Camera” show. Mark called into the 3rd Annual Jersey Rock Podcast Halloween Special to tell us more about both endeavors. Check out the show HERE.
Tune to Jersey Rock on 95.9 The Rat Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30 pm to hear cuts from The Poor Man’s Opera’s “Barstool Confessional” album. Mark Moran will call in to the show each night!
