Who’s Got The Best Wings In Silverton? Here Are Some Top Contenders.
Who’s got the best wings in Silverton? Well, when it comes to the Silverton section of Toms River, where I reside, two things ring true. There are a lot of food joints, and Silvertonians have plenty of opinions on what is good and what is trash.
The Idea For The Story…
It wasn’t that long ago that a piece I wrote on Silverton’s mass amount of pizza places started a little social media firestorm of crusty name-calling, and pepperoni and sausage bashing, the likes of which weren’t seen again until the Roxy’s drag show happened. However, I’ve been tempted by my wing-consuming children, my own belly and taste buds, along with curiosity, to not only give my opinion on the finest flats in Siltown but also YOUR thoughts on the damnedest drums in our little wing of the woods.
Our Contenders Hail From Different Silverton Wing Slinging Venues.
That is to say, some of my personal favorites in town, range from bars to pizza joints, to other food service businesses you don’t want to sleep on when it comes to their spicy perfumed poultry pieces.

Don’t forget, I want to hear from YOU.
If you see this story on one of the local Facebook pages, such as Speaking Silverton, Silverton Residents, Silverton Alerts, one of the dozens of Toms River pages, or wherever else, be sure to put your two cents in. I am very interested to see what the consensus is on just who is the King Of The Wing in Silverton!
The Contenders:
Mac’s Pub. 1747 Hooper Avenue Toms River
Loved McIntyre, and love Macs. Some things have changed, but one thing remains that I love: they fry them, then grill them. Makes for a solid wing experience. Sauces are fine. I’m a fan of their Thai Chili. Many people crave the boneless grilled shown here.
Riv’s Toms River Hub. 1850 Hooper Avenue.
A good wing here, with some solid sauce effort. I like the Hub sauce with the bleu cheese crumbles mixed in with the buffalo and bbq sauces. Like everybody in the pool! I also am a huge fan of any wing done with spicy Italian cherry peppers, which they do at “the hub” as well.
Lenny’s Silverton Market. 1824 Hooper Avenue.
You damn right! A few Super Bowls back I had heard they were cooking wings and saucing them up for heat and eating take-outs. My god so good. A bit pricey yes, but it’s the way of the world. Lenny’s does nothing mediocre, and some things like these wings, are exceptionally good.
China Express. 1816 Hooper Avenue.
See now this is where we either start to lose reality or you take the deep dive with me. Yes, China Express has good Chinese Food. Yes, their wings are the typical Chinese Food deep fried no sauce wing. However, you CAN get them sauced! JUST ASK. They will dip them in any of their crazy sauces. I like them in General Tso sauce or that sweet n sour sticky red sauce. Here’s a shot of them dry from the sister location in Brick, China Express 2. Hot, crispy, amazing.
Sweet Carolina BBQ. 1839 Hooper Avenue
Since opening in Silverton late last year they have gathered a good following of barbeque fans. Their wings are fun because they are dry rubbed and then you can put one of their awesome sauces on to compliment the already bangin’ flavor. A solid player here. Order ahead off of their catering menu, unless you catch them on a day they are doing a special for lunch or dinner.
Villagios Pizza. 1889 Hooper Avenue.
Ok, so I figure this is where things may go south. Most pizza places do wings these days. Most of them are good if you don’t know what good wings are. If that makes sense. Kind of like how Dave Portnoy calls so many pizzas in his reviews “Football Pizza”. It’s good for an average Sunday order of pizza and wings. However, I find Villagios to be a bit better. Their wings are a decent size, and I’m a fan of the sauces I’ve had, although I notice the Boom Boom or Bang Bang sauce or whatever it was called is no longer on the menu. I really liked that. It was a holdover from the previous place, Decosmos.
So what do you think? Who’s got the best wings in Silverton? I’d like to know your opinion!
