Tattoos Might Cause Cancer, Says New Study
Well, a new study just came out that says tattoos might cause cancer. I have a bunch of them and it’s freaking me out a bit.
Maybe you went out and got some tattoos during spring or got drunk and got your significant other’s name on each other, well this new study says some of the ink is bad.
I have both my arms tatted up, so if you do have tattoos like me you’re not alone in being nervous. I don’t think however this will stop many of us from getting tattoos but the information is still kind of scary.
The Scoop On The Research And Outlook On This Study For Tattoos
Swedish researchers looked at 12,000 patients and found that people with tattoos had a 21% higher risk for lymphoma. That is a type of cancer of the blood in our bodies.
The study from Sweden reads that the ink triggers an immune response and some of that ink gets deposited into your lymph nodes. They are saying the low-grade inflammation from it might be the cause and effect. This is just a study so they are not sure.
Check this out… in the report, it does not even matter what size tattoo you have on your body. In the study, they are saying people with even small tats had the same increase in risk. If you have a tattoo you can always check with your doctor and get some blood work done to be on the safe side.
In the study, they have reported that 2% of Americans will develop lymphoma at some point in their life, and here is the good news it is very treatable if you catch it early enough.
So in conclusion, I suggest keeping up with your regular doctor if you have a tattoo, like I will be doing in the near future to make sure my blood work is okay.
