Two grocery stores in New Jersey sold  Jersey Cash 5 winning tickets for the March 11th drawing.

One of the winning lottery tickets is worth more than half a million dollars and was sold at a Monmouth County supermarket.

Did you check your lottery tickets?

Earlier this week, my new best friend (although they don’t know it yet), just won a tad more than $550,000 dollars.

According to the New Jersey Lottery, two tickets matched all five numbers in the Jersey Cash 5 drawing on Monday, Mar. 11. The tickets are each worth $554,194, splitting the $1,108,388 jackpot.

Are you more than a half a million dollars richer?

The Monmouth County winning ticket was purchased at the Stop & Shop on the corner of Route 35 South and Twin Brook Road in Middletown. The other winning ticket was sold at ShopRite in West Orange.

A half million dollars may not seem a lot to some people, but in this economy, it is a huge help getting the bills paid and putting food on the table.

More people than ever are living paycheck to paycheck and seeking food assistance from local food banks and pantries.

Poor working class folks would call this win a blessing. You’re spending a lot more at the grocery store than you were just a year ago.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, The all-items Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measure of economy-wide inflation, increased 0.5 percent from December 2023 to January 2024 and was up 3.1 percent from January 2023. The CPI for all food increased 0.6 percent from December 2023 to January 2024, and food prices were 2.6 percent higher than in January 2023.

I love food shopping for my family, but I hate having to look at the receipt afterwards.

God bless whoever won this beautiful pile of cash. Pay your debts, take a vacation, and save some for a rainy day.
