I Bought THC Seltzer At The Liquor Store This Past Weekend
THC Seltzer is not something I was expecting to see at my local liquor store when I strolled on in for some beverages, but there they were!
Finding THC Seltzer
I went into the Silverton Buy Rite in Toms River late Sunday morning, not really sure what I was going to get. The wife and I were gonna chill at our community bay beach for the afternoon, and I felt like having a couple of drinks. However, I felt a little bloated from my overindulgence in Atlantic City the night before.
I wasn’t feeling beers, and honestly, I’m not a huge fan of hard seltzers, so I figured I better look around. That Buy Rite has everything you could imagine, so I was like a gal window shopping for a new dress! Then, in the hard seltzer section, my eyes caught something that made me do a double take. Plain as day, behind the glass door of the cooler I read the box that said “10mg THC”. I shook my head like a Scooby Doo cartoon. This particular product was called Uncle Arnie’s Cherry Limeade THC Infused Beverage. A THC Seltzer!
I had to ask one of the clerks. I said “Silly question, but is this really weed seltzer? He said “Well, this one is more of a soda, but we have seltzers too”, directing me to the products next to Uncle Arnie’s. Now, one thing that popped out to me immediately was the prices. THC Seltzers are a bit more than you would pay for beer, even craft IPAs. The average price for 4 packs of these new-to-the-market beverages is close to 20 dollars retail, although I have seen them online for cheaper. One 4-pack I saw was 50mg cans (!) for 40 dollars! 50mg per can! That’s some Cheech and Chong shit right there!
Anyway, I went with Uncle Arnie and his Cherry Limeade concoction for about 19 bucks after tax. I enjoyed one on the beach and the high was pretty fast and long-lasting. More of a soda than a THC Seltzer for sure, but was fun.
Not too intense, and quite enjoyable. However, I will say that in the future, I would probably opt for a THC Seltzer product with less sugar. The clerk was correct, it was more of a soda, with over 30 grams of sugar, and red dye for coloring. I think next time I go the way of the weed, I will opt for a clean seltzer product with little to no sugar. I’d also like to try a 2.5mg or 5mg product so I can have more of a session and a lighter buzz.
But hey, what a country!
