Well first and foremost God Bless The USA, but we do have some horrible singers who were given the chance to sing our nation’s song.. 6 of which destroyed our National Anthem. There are more than 6 according to ranker.com, but I don’t want to put you through misery any more than you have to.
Francis Scott Key, the man who wrote the National Anthem, is most likely turning over in his grave, listening to some of these people sing our nation’s song. Now I’m sure they were trying to do their best, but I don’t know who ever said, “Yeah that sounded good,” during the audition tryouts. I’m sure Simon Cowell from American Idol would be telling some of these singers to just stop, during their performance.
We did have some powerhouses that sang the National Anthem and were just incredible, such as Whitney Houston, during the 25th Superbowl back in 1991, or how about showing our love and respect to none other than Jimi Hendrix, who had everyone ready to go during his performance at Woodstock 69 with just ripping up his guitar.
Getting to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at a major event is an honor for anyone who is asked to do it. It is not an easy song to sing for sure, but let’s not start offending an entire nation, with some of the ways these famous people have done it. Some of these are so bad I think the American Flag came down to be at half-staff during these performances.
Don’t forget to always show your respect for our nation’s song take your hat off and cover your heart no matter who is singing the National Anthem. Right now though I’m going to tell you to cover your ears because here comes our list.
