So Where Exactly is This new Restaurant in Silverton?

Silverton is getting a new restaurant in an old familiar location. Sources tell me Sofia's Taqueria will be taking over the old Roxy's Bar & Grill spot.

The much-maligned Roxy's at 11 Kettle Creek Road on the corner of Hooper Avenue in Silverton, closed earlier this year after less than a year. Speculation has run rampant since then about what might take over the abandoned corner property.

Some local business owners I spoke to told me the building was too large for a small entrepreneur to run a restaurant at in this economic landscape, and that a larger chain restaurant would make more financial sense. That has had Silverton locals abuzz with thoughts of national favorites like Cracker Barrel, Texas Roadhouse, Bonefish Grill, and the like moving in. However, it is a smaller, tri-state area restaurant chain that sources tell me has secured the spot for their newest location.

Silverton, Get Ready To Meet Sofia!

Sofia's Taqueria

Town sources have told me the new restaurant that will be filling the old Roxy's spot is the Staten Island-based Sofia's Taqueria Taco & Tequila Bar. According to their website, Sofia's is an authentic Pueblo-style taco and tequila bar, known for scratch-made tortillas and their multi-page tequila and mezcal menu. They opened their first location on Bay Street in Staten Island in January 2019. Sofia's has since opened three more Staten Island locations, as well as a brand new Jersey place on Route 9 in Old Bridge this Summer.

Sofia's Taqueria

The website says Sofia's features multiple levels and an outdoor courtyard of carefully curated furniture and decor that create the perfect mix of authentic ambiance, playful sophistication, and an energetic vibe. Gourmet food, hand-crafted cocktails, and over 100 tequilas and mezcals are the focus of the passionate and talented staff. The menu looks exciting! Check out the full menu here.

Sofia's also does special events and party packs for your special event, holiday party, or if you're just having the gang over to watch Football, or Futbol ! Oh, and they also have their own line of Hot Sauces at their restaurants!

No timetable has been publicly announced for the restaurant's transformation into Sofia's Taqueria, but a new restaurant in Silverton is always welcome. As a Silverton resident, I am more than excited. This is the kind of place that I think will do well in our neck of the woods. What do you think?
