Tons Of Fake Boobs, Lots Of Blonde Wigs: It’s Dolly Parton Day
An unbelievable record was just set in a small town in Ireland. They set a new world record for the “most people dressed as Dolly Parton in one place” and the video of the event is a must-watch joyful train wreck. (I mean train wreck in the best possible manner this time. So many blonde wigs and stuffed shirts, it’s just hilarious!)
I love this so much. The small town is Listowel, Ireland. Population 4800, give or take. They needed 250 people to put a few balloons up their shirt and wear a blonde wig to set the record. Over 1100 people turned up. That means over 1/5th of the population were into the idea.
The Guinness Book of World Records hasn’t confirmed the number yet but apparently, the real Dolly has heard of the whole thing because the president of Dollywood was there to take in the fun of so many people dressed as Dolly Parton.
The real Dolly really has to get over there.
Check out this video on the FB link. But scroll down because the plot thickens.
What did I mean by, “the plot thickens”? Well, it turns out that there’s a group of local women who have been enamored with Dolly Parton for what looks to be quite a long time. They don their wigs and, if needed, puff up their blouses and perform Dolly’s big hits in the town square every often. They’re all tied into making life easier for people who are going through treatment for cancer.
And they’ve turned their whole Dolly Day into a fundraiser for a local hospice charity. Pretty cool! You’d think the real Dolly Parton would be all about that.
