The title track from “Acceptance” is a powerful multi-faceted production. Speaking of the recording process, Rachel Ana Dobken said:
“After piece-mealing the song together where I was playing drums and guitar (Dan on Bass), we went into mixing and Paul Ritchie and I knew pretty quickly the song yearned for a more “live” feel.”
That yearning was satisfied by the song’s accompanying live studio performance video. It features Rachel Ana Dobken (drums, guitar, vox) Erik Rudic (guitar) Dan Haase (bass) Paul Ritchie (guitar, engineer) and Mark Masefield (organ). It was produced by Paul Ritchie and Rachel Ana Dobken . Speaking of the video, Dobken said:
“So we got together with him, Erik Rudic, Dan on bass myself on drums and recut this live (my guitar and vocals after) I showed my guys the parts and they took it into a whole other dimension. I also mentioned I wanted to also record a tasteful / intentional/ not too long jam at the end, something along the lines of Sabbath meets Blind Faith (2 of my fave bands, this felt like the right flavor for the song). When we got together I told the guys I wanted to take the riff (thats where the song started) and deconstruct it and this is what we came up with. “
She continued:
“It was the most fun I’ve ever had recording music in the studio.”
Rachel Ana Dobken’s “Acceptance” album release show rocked the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park on April 5. She plans to go out on tour and will be back in our area this September to rock The Sea Hear Now Festival on Sunday September 15.

PNC Bank Arts Center Concert Schedule 2024
PNC Bank Arts Center Concert Schedule 2024.
Lots of great shows coming to the PNC Bank Arts Center this 2024 concert season. I remember when this place used to be called The Garden State Arts Center.
Jane Foderago says The Garden State Arts Center opened on June 12, 1968, with a program featuring pianist Van Cliburn, conductor Eugene Ormandy, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. The Arts Center was operated in conjunction with the New Jersey Highway Authority, which also ran the Parkway.
I interviewed Point Pleasant’s own Dean DeLeo, the lead guitarist for Stone Temple Pilots and he was sharing some of his personal history attending shows at the Garden State Arts Center with his family.
One of his first recollections was seeing the Carpenters when he was 10 years old back in the summer of 72. The Carpenters were a huge act in the 70’s.
My husband also shared memories of his first show as a kid at the Garden State Arts Center. His first show was back in 1970 seeing Sammy Davis Jr. who did a week-long residency at the time.
Back in those days, people would dress up to go to a concert event at the Arts Center. Men in jackets and ties, women in dresses, skirts, or pantsuits.
Nowadays, we just throw on whatever’s comfortable. If you’re going to be outdoors for a show, it’s best to be comfortable.
I lost count of how many shows I’ve seen at the Arts Center over the last 28 years. Its’ got to be hundreds!
The WRAT van is almost always on-site for rock shows.
This year I count at least 20 shows I’d like to attend. I will be showing up for at least 10 of those shows including WRATFEST 2024: Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper: Freaks On Parade Tour with special guests Ministry & Filter on September 7th. Buy tickets through Ticketmaster, and keep listening to the WRAT for your chance to win your way in.
