Jersey Rock Video of the Week: Soraia “Bang Them Bones”
New Single Available Now!
Soraia has a very busy stretch ahead! Last week’s Jersey Rock Band of the Week is about to head out on a tour that will make stops across the west, including Las Vegas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. It all kicks off in Austin, Texas on March 16 when they rock South By Southwest! It will be the band’s first official SXSW performance, headlining a showcase of bands from their label Wicked Cool Records. Speaking of the show lead singer ZouZou Mansour said:
“Our upcoming showcase is at The Continental Club in Austin on Saturday March 16th at 11pm. We are super excited as we are going with our Wicked Cool Records family of artists. And it’s our first time playing an official SXSW showcase! We are very excited. There’s lots to do there ahead of the the show too!”
Following the tour Soraia will be back in our area on April 27 when they rock Sweet Vinyl Cafe in Denville.
Soraia’s latest single “Bang Them Bones” is out now. ZouZou Mansour gave us the lowdown on the track’s overseas origin. She said:
“‘Bang Them Bones’ was written by Sulo Karlsson and recorded in Stockholm, Sweden while we were touring there in October 2023. It’s a straight Rock N’ Roll song, which I love. As soon as I heard the verse and guitar riff I wanted to do it!”

Beyond the upcoming tour and the new single, Soraia has another treat for fans: a live YouTube video series! ZouZou shared the details last week on Jersey Rock stating:
” We recorded them last year. We used a guy named Tom Quigley, Quigley films. He’s fantastic. He always does a few cameras at our live shows and he caught some really good footage of us so we’re mixing it and putting it together and we’ll have pretty much one per month through the rest of the year.”

5 New Beaches To Find Beautiful New Jersey Sea Glass
I have honestly been stunned by the amount of feedback we’ve gotten since I wrote about beaches to find sea glass at the Jersey Shore last August. I knew sea glass hunting was a fun pastime for parents with their kids, having done it myself for years. However, I was impressed with the amount of adults who hunt sea glass on their own during their free time. Furthermore, I was amazed at some of the jewelry and artwork locals have cobbled together from their years worth of finds.
First, A Sea Glass Refresher Course.
According to the Sea Glass Wikipedia listing, Sea Glass are naturally weathered pieces of glass, which often have the appearance of tumbled stones. Sea glass is physically and chemically weathered glass found on beaches along bodies of salt water. These weathering processes produce natural frosted glass. Interestingly, Sea Glass takes 20–40 years, and sometimes as much as 100–200 years, to acquire its characteristic texture and shape.
The most popular sea glass colors include Kelly green, jade, amber, forest green, and soft blue. Less common colors include purple, citron, pink, and gray. Meanwhile, red and orange are amongst the rarest of colors one can find while sea glass hunting. So, if you happen to find a red or orange sea glass piece, hold onto it. Then relish the fact that the red is probably from a time when car brake lights were made of glass. Moreover, any rare orange sea glass you may find, may have come from either old gin or wine bottles.
In the original story I listed beaches in Bay Head, Manasquan, Mantoloking, Sea Bright, and on LBI. Since that time, I’ve been inundated with other areas that folks swear to as the best spots in New Jersey for grabbin’ some glass. So let’s check at least some of them out right now…
