Holy SPIT: Animal Handlers Get Stuck In Gorilla Enclosure At Ft. Worth, Texas Zoo
Video shows animal handlers caught in the gorilla enclosure with angry Silverback gorilla.
I’m not s#itting my pants, you are. Ok, I am too. Holy moly this is a crazy video from the zoo in Ft. Worth, Texas. The incident went down last October but the video just went viral over the weekend. It shows a very angry gorilla in his enclosure at the zoo. No big deal right? Well, yes big deal. Because there’s two animal handlers in the gorilla enclosure with this beast.
Exactly what transpired is hard to know, but clearly someone screwed up. From the very start of the video, you can kind of see that the gorilla has just been let into the enclosure. But, the animal keepers tending to the maintenance of the space had not left yet. I’m guessing that a serious lack of communication went down that day.
Silverback Gorilla
Not sure what any other scenario might leave two humans and a gorilla in a zoo enclosure together. The animal in question is a Silverback Gorilla. A male. A typical adult male stands 5 feet tall and weighs a whopping 430 pounds.
Careful: this video is scary:

Clearly, I’m not an expert on Silverback gorillas but this guy doesn’t seem to thrilled that there’s some other upright being in his enclosure. Who doesn’t remember watching those gorilla videos from that lady in the jungle? Remember Jane Goodall? Man, what a life she has led: living among chimpanzees in Tanzania. But I don’t know if even Jane was ever charged by an angry Silverback. That is some dangerous stuff right there.
If you have the volume up, you can hear the woman in the video praying out loud for the the people in the enclosure. Other people can be heard getting the kids away from the viewing area in case a brutal attack is about to unfold. I mean, I can’t blame them, I wouldn’t want my kid to witness that either. Thankfully, the two animal handlers in the gorilla enclosure make it to safety.
If you do venture in the wild here in New Jersey, you won’t find any gorillas… but you might find a tick. Read up on the dangers of tick season in the Garden State:
Tick Season Will Be Extra Brutal - How to Protect Yourself
If you’re someone who dislikes the snow and ice, then you probably have been loving this winter. Warmer temperatures have flourished throughout the U.S. But, that also means more bugs and ticks. Moreover, tick bites aren’t something to take lightly. Now, health agencies across America are warning that this year’s tick season is going to be extra bad.
So, why will there be more ticks this season? It’s simple. A warmer winter means that the tick population didn’t die off like it would have in freezing temperatures. That means there are going to be way more ticks attacking both humans and pets.
What makes ticks so dangerous? They could be carrying the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi, which causes Lyme disease. “The bacterium can be transmitted by the blacklegged tick, if infected,” the Michigan DNR says on its website. They add that it’s “the most commonly reported vector-borne disease in the United States.” Moreover, the Pennsylvania Department of Health notes that ticks can also cause Anaplasmosis, Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis, Spotted Fever Rickettsiosis, Powassan Virus, STARI, Alpha-gal Syndrome and Borrelia miyamotoi disease. Not cool.
So, what exactly is a tick? It’s an arthropod, like a spider. “Ticks have 8 legs, are very small, and attach to a person or animal to suck blood. In Pennsylvania, many ticks carry diseases,” the Pennsylvania Department of Health notes. “Ticks can be found anywhere: outdoors in areas with long grasses and weeds, leaf piles, the woods, and even in your own yard.” That said, it’s important to protect yourself and avoid tick bites. That doesn’t mean you have to totally avoid going outdoors. But, you need to be cautious. I love being outdoors in the warm months, and I also live near the woods. So, I’m going to be extra mindful of ticks this season. Here are some expert tips I’m following, and you should, too.

When Carl is not working at the greatest rock radio station known to mankind; a station known around the globe; a station that has the best music, co-workers, advertisers and most importantly THE BEST F'N LISTENERS you may find me doing any one of the following: Riding or making mountain bike trails. playing with his kids. playing sand volleyball on 5th Ave, cooking amazing food, including on his sweet smoker grill, going to concerts, swimming in the ocean, going to amusement parks with his kids, and other stuff that rocks!
