In case you didn't know, Dublin, Ireland is 5 hours ahead of the Jersey Shore on the world clock. So this bodes particularly well for those of us who like to get their Irish New Year on a bit early.

May be an image of drink and text that says 'MAC'S PUB PRESENTS Rart IRIŠH NEW YEAR 31ST DECEMBER, 2023 MUSIC BY: DJ RYAN SUBERS BALL DROPS AT 7PM Kick Off at 5pm Last Call at 8pm FREE ENTRY CHAMPAGNE TOAST'

Mac's Pub at 1747 Hooper Avenue, in the Anchorage Plaza, in the Silverton section of Toms River will once again be hosting an Irish New Years Eve Party Sunday, December 31st at 7pm. The new ownership will be continuing the tradition of the pub's previous incarnation, McIntyre's. The bar changed hands earlier this year, and officially  changed over to Mac's Pub in October. You can read that story here.

The Irish New Year Party officially starts at 5pm our time. That of course is 10pm in Dublin. The 2 hour event will feature music by local club DJ Ryan Subers.

Furthermore there will be free entry, as well as a complimentary champagne toast at "Midnight". Of course Midnight in Ireland is just 7pm here, so you can have your champagne when the Irish New Year ball drops at Mac's Pub! The kitchen will be open for dinner and bar munchies. However last call will be at 8pm, so the staff can clean up and head home to their own American New Years Eve celebrations.

So what's really happening on New Years Eve over in Ireland?

I asked myself that and did a little research. According to the website Ireland.com, there is a huge celebration planned for the Emerald Isle, just like in the US and around the world. Furthermore, Festival Dublin, as it's known, takes place over a 4 day period leading up to the new year. The site goes on to say that the festival welcomes visitors from all over the world to join the locals and ring in the New Year. This is the place to be in Ireland on New Year's Eve in 2023.

However, for those of us here in the states, and specifically in Silverton, Irish New Year at Mac's Pub will do just fine! Slainte'!
