Orioles In Disgrace After Suspending Announcer Who Told The Truth About The Team (VIDEO)
Good morning, Sports gang! It’s your buddy Davey Mac here with a huge Sports Report for ya! All kinds of news and scores and updates…but first! Did you hear about this scandal regarding the Baltimore Orioles and their announcer Kevin Brown?
Brown was doing an intro for an O’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays…and he simply pointed out that the Orioles have not played very well against Tampa in recent years. That’s all.
Check out the video below. THIS simple telling of the Orioles’ struggles against the Rays is that this guy got suspended.
I don't understand this. Isn't this how we lost the great Jon Miller as the Orioles announcer back in '96? Same nonsense. https://t.co/yAwznQkVTR

What the?! THAT’S why Kevin Brown was suspended? He was just saying that the Orioles haven’t played well against Tampa but, now that the O’s are in first place, maybe their play will turn around against the Rays. And guess what? Baltimore is in FIRST PLACE this year…they’ve played great! So why is the Orioles’ ownership so thin-skinned?!
In any event, this is no reason to suspend someone. Even Mets announcer Gary Cohen had an issue with this…

…As did Yankees television broadcaster Michael Kay…
"This makes the Orioles look so small and insignificant and minor league"

…the Red Sox and Angels broadcast teams also had an issue with this…
Angels broadcaster Wayne Randazzo on Kevin Brown and the Orioles:

"Sometimes, facts are facts, and we have to sit here and talk about them, whether they're pretty or not. And in Baltimore, certainly, they have had some different reactions to that sort of thing." pic.twitter.com/Ke7LXUn6yv
…and let’s throw in Yankee radio announcers John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman did, too…

Basically. Everyone in the league thinks this is a bad idea…because it is. It’s also unfair. The Orioles (and their owner John Angelos) need to correct this injustice ASAP! I’m Davey Mac…that’s my two cents! Now on to the Scoreboard!

Let’s start with baseball…the Yankees lost to the White Sox last night…5 to 1. The Yankees drop to 58 and 55 for the season. They’re 4 and 6 in their last ten games.

Looking at both the Yankees and the Mets for the postseason…you can forget about the division with either team. The Yankees trail the first-place Orioles by 12.5 games…while the Mets are 20 games behind the Braves in their division. As far as the Wild Card goes…the Yankees are 5.5 games behind the Blue Jays for the third and final Wild Card spot in the A.L. The Mets are 7.5 games behind the Reds for the third Wild Card spot in the N.L.

The Phillies, meanwhile, are in the second N.L. Wild Card spot right now. Their game against the Nationals was postponed yesterday. There will be a doubleheader between the Phils and Nats today beginning at 4 o’clock.

Football. According to sports business website Sportico’s sports valuations, the Dallas Cowboys are the most valuable sports franchise in the world at $9.2 billion…putting the Cowboys more than $1.5 billion ahead of the next most valuable team (the Golden State Warriors, at $7.56 billion). The Yankees are third at $7.13 billion.

Basketball. Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis has agreed to a three-year, $186 million maximum contract extension, tying him to the franchise through 2028 for a total of $270 million. Davis’ deal is the richest annual contract extension in NBA history, averaging $62 million a season.

College Sports. Big issue right now in college athletics as teams are now bolting left and right for bigger and richer conferences. Five schools from the Pac-12 have announced they will be leaving the conference…including Stanford, Cal, Oregon, and Washington…meaning there are only four schools left in the Pac-12. Problem.
