(WATCH) Jersey Rock Video of the Week: Studio D’Lux “Slow Burn”
Self-Titled EP Available Now!
Studio D’Lux is still on their adventurous audio journey. Doug Kistner’s Yacht Rock-inspired supergroup continues to prove they have a lot of wind left in their sails. If you have yet to experience this all-star act, now is the perfect time to climb aboard. Yacht Rock was made for Summer and Studio D’Lux is riding a warm musical breeze!
Studio D’Lux boasts an incredible line up of world class musicians. Kistner populated his crew with Liberty Devitto, Jon Herington, Bill Champlin, Joel Hoekstra, and Glen Burtnik. The original plan, however did not call for a supergroup. Each member was recruited individually to play on different tracks.
Speaking on Jersey Rock Doug Kistner said”
“…It sorta happened by accident…this supergroup just came together and since we weren’t really a band, I came up with the name of Studio D’Lux.”
If Studio D’Lux is an accident, it’s a truly happy accident. The tides can turn unexpectedly and sometimes that turn can be favorable. We’re stoked that is the case here! By focusing on just one song at a time Doug Kistner ended up with his band’s debut eponymous EP. You can turn up “Studio D’Lux” on Spotify! If you enjoy the music of Chicago, The Doobie Brothers, Billy Joel, Steely Dan, Toto, and Styx, then you will enjoy this release!
One of the more interesting elements of Studio D’Lux is that while they are a musical throwback, they exist on the cutting edge of musical production. Twenty years ago, it was a big deal to be able to record an album at home. Today, a band can record an album at a bunch of homes. Geography is no longer a factor and more and more artists are taking advantage of modern technology to make their visions a reality. Doug Kistner is doing just that. While he doesn’t view his supergroup as a real band, it is in fact a super achievement.
When Doug Kistner was on Jersey Rock this Spring, he hinted at more new music coming soon. We’re happy to bring you the music video for their latest single “Slow Burn.” It was produced by Doug Kistner and Marc Battaglia Mixed and engineered by Marc Battaglia and John Arbuckle. Video production was done by Bobby Lynch.

These Are 11 Great Places To Catch The Sunset With A Drink On The Jersey Shore
Everyone on the Jersey Shore knows the best place to see a sunrise; just head to any local boardwalk and point your eyes to the east and you’ll be treated to a fantastic view almost every time! But, I was recently asked the question, “Where’s your favorite place to see a Jersey Shore sunset?”.
The question got me thinking about the various characteristics of a restaurant or bar that’s great to catch a Jersey Shore sunset. Here’s what I came up with:
- Has to face to the west, preferably with a view that is over a body of water. The water view is key, in my opinion. A sunset over a group of houses in some urban hellscape isn’t quite as magical as a beautiful red sun sinking into a hillside on the other edge of open water.
I mean, that’s it, right? A great spot for a Jersey Shore sunset only needs to face west.. and when I got thinking about it, there are not a ton of places with a water view that actually faces west. Only a spot along one of our inland waterways (a bay or a river) will set this up properly.
I did some research, scanned my memory, I asked the Rat Rock Nation on our social media, and took paper into hand, and here’s what I came up with: The best places to catch a Jersey Shore Sunset.
I make my list from north to south from Monmouth County to Ocean County. If you’d like me to consider adding a place that I’ve missed, please send me a note because I’m always looking for a great place.
