Winners of the Third Annual Point Pleasant Beach Battle of the Bands!
The Third Annual Point Pleasant Beach Battle of the Bands rocked the Bandshell in Point Pleasant Beach on Saturday June 8. It featured performances from 12 great bands, food, beer, and lots of family-friendly Fun. RAT radio was on the scene for what proved to be an incredibly special event. The evening was dedicated to the memory of Chris Bozadzis, the creator of the Point Pleasant Beach Battle of the bands and slain musician Jillian Rae Ludwig (Good Morning Beautiful). Ahead of the event Bill Schule of Point Pleasant Beach Recreation said:
“We lost an irreplaceable force last November, rest in peace Chris Bozadzis. He was truly one of kind in the best possible way and we are all better for having known him. ”We want to ensure the Battle of the Bands will live on for years to come. ”
Judging from what we saw on Saturday, The Point Pleasant Beach Battle of the Bands is here to stay! The evening opened with a set from Good Morning Beautiful followed by a tribute to Chris Bozadzis from long-time friend Tim Allen as well as words from Jillian Rae Ludwig’s parents, Matt and Jessica Ludwig.
A portion of the proceeds from the gate at the Battle of Bands was donated to the Rae of Light Foundation, a pending 501(c)3 non-profit organization established by Jessica and Matt Ludwig in honor and memory of their beloved daughter, Jillian Rae Ludwig. The Rae Of Light Foundation provides scholarships for students seeking secondary education and also music lessons for youth, to provide the same life-changing opportunities that inspired Jillian throughout her formative years. They also collect and distribute musical instruments to schools, churches, and youth groups, and advocate for initiatives and legislation that will improve public safety.

What followed after the tributes was an evening that rose to carry the weight of the tragedies that preceded it. It was an upbeat, spirited competition. Hundreds of attendees were treated to sets from a diverse lineup of talent that featured Soup, Internet Humor, Black Inti, Sunrise Cries, Via Crowe, The Well Wish, Atomic Battery, MadWorld, Johnny Weasel, Leopard Monks and returning champions Baron Praxis.
Atomic Battery took first place in the Garage band category and Via Crowe was awarded the runner-up honors. 2023 Champions Baron Praxis took Third Place in the Pro category. Returning competitors Soup was awarded Second Place. The Well Wish, who competed in the first battle of the bands and opened up the second battle of the bands with a special performance, was awarded the 2024 championship!
RAT Radio’s own Erik Swift was one of the judges. Following the show he wrote this on the WRAT Facebook page:
“Gotta say it was WAY cool to be among the judges at the Point Pleasant Battle Of The Bands tonight. So much talent…and the winner? The Well Wish crushed it!”
