There’s A Cannoli Eating Contest Coming To Colts Neck, New Jersey in July!
Remember Clemenza’s iconic line from the Godfather? Leave the gun, take the cannoli.
This was one of the most dynamic sequences in The Godfather and was improvised on the spot.
It was revealed by actor, Richard Castellano’s wife that the script and the novel only had Clemenza saying “Leave the gun.”
I’ll take the cannoli every time.
Do You Want To Know How Cannoli Are Made?
According to insideat.edu, The cannolo is made from a wafer prepared with a dough made from flour, wine, sugar and butter, then rolled out, rolled and fried in lard or oil.
To give it its characteristic shape, a small metal tube is used, on which the dough is rolled and fried directly.
And for the filling? Ricotta is the fundamental ingredient in Sicilian pastry. It is sieved and worked with sugar to obtain a soft and creamy filling. To make everything even more delicious, candied fruit or a choice of chocolate chips, chopped pistachios or hazelnuts are added. The final touch, on the other hand, consists of a sprinkling of powdered sugar.
