Golden Bachelor & Jersey Girl Split Up
Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner and Shrewsbury New Jersey resident Theresa Nist have called it quits.
They are getting a divorce! Consciously uncoupling! Calling It quits on their marriage of just 3 months.
I watched every episode of The Golden Bachelor because Theresa was from my home state of New Jersey. Plus, it was sweet to watch a reality show that included more mature individuals looking for love. I always root for long-lasting love.
Both Gerry and Theresa lost their long-time spouses to illness and were hoping to add another happy chapter to their lives.
Going on national television to find love again is a risky proposition. It’s also risky knowing that a contestant’s portrayal is in the hands of the show’s editors. It’s those crafty edits that can make a contestant look like a hero or a villain.
As I watched the finale on January 4, 2024, I was rooting for Gerry and Theresa. I wanted life long happiness for them.
In the back of my mind, I wondered if getting married just a few months after meeting on a nationally televised reality show was a good idea.
I guess you get all caught up in a whirlwind and hope for the best, rather than thinking about long term plans.

Gerry lives in a lake house in Indiana near his family, and Theresa lives in a lovely home in Shrewsbury, New Jersey surrounded by her adult children and grandchildren.
According to People Magazine, They had planned to move in together, Nist said, explaining Turner considered a move to New Jersey and both even looked for homes in South Carolina. “We looked at home after home, but we never got to the point where we made that decision,” she said.
“The thing that strikes me the most in our conversations, it’s been how dedicated both of us our to our families,” shared Turner. “So we look at these conversation and we both think it’s best for the happiness of each of us to live apart.”
Gerry & Theresa made the emotional announcement on “Good Morning America” on Friday morning, April 12, 2024.
The two did their GMA interview holding hands and told ABC News’ Juju Chang they are “best friends” and plan on staying in one another’s lives.
During the telecast, Gerry Turner said, “Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations … and looked closely to our living situations,” he said, noting that they’ve decided to “dissolve” their marriage.
“We just feel like it’s best for the happiness of each of us to live apart,” he said. “I still love this person. There’s no doubt in my mind.”
As for finding love again, Gerry and Theresa said they plan on going on that journey. “And we tell everybody else to continue to look for love
I’m still rooting for love.
