Should Disney Re-Make The Original Trilogy Star Wars Movies With Younger Actors Or CGI?

Good morning, Star Wars fans! We’re in the limbo period where we just watched a fantastic show (in Ahsoka) on Disney Plus and are waiting for the next exciting series (which should be Skeleton Crew). But before we get to all of that, let’s pontificate on the future of the Saga that we all know and love. There is word going around that Disney could be interested in making Original Trilogy-era movies with Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo (among others).
This is interesting. Let’s look at what led up to this decision. First, we obviously have to start with the creator of the Saga, George Lucas. Many people were surprised when Lucas sold his beloved creation to Disney. Initially, some felt that George would be a consultant on the new movies. But it turns out, he really is retired and has very little to no involvement in the new stories (though he has shown up on set a few times to give support to the current creators).

But even with George out of the picture, Disney has capitalized on his legendary characters. They made a standalone movie on Han Solo (called Solo) with a younger actor, Alden Ehrenreich, playing the role that Harrison Ford made famous. The movie was fun and exciting but did not perform well at the box office. Some people, however, Solo’s poor numbers were due to the film being released only five months after Episode VIII: The Last Jedi.

So this got me thinking…why don’t they just make new stories with those awesome, classic, original characters with an all-new younger cast? We’ve gotten multiple Batmen, Supermen, Spidermen, etc…time for a new Luke Skywalker! Plus…Mark Hamill said he’d be all for it!

I also think it would be a great way to honor this fantastic cast from the first movies. We lost Carrie Fisher…and I think a new, kickass Leia story would be a cool tribute to this Hollywood legend.

So forget about the CGI and deep-fake technology! Get REAL people to be these characters in brand, new, epic stories…and Star Wars fans will go nuts (in a good way). Trust me…they don’t call me Darth David for nothing!
