Weapons of Anew is re-loaded and ready to fire off another round of great music! While their trajectory has been varied, their passion, work ethic, and talent has always been on the mark.  The band has  set their sights on new targets and are still aiming for the kill shot.

The story of Weapons of Anew almost feels like it was written for television or film.  A hard-working band builds a grass-roots national following through hard work and personal connections.  They would rock the roof off a venue  and shake hands after the show.  By the late 2010's it was clear they were on their way.  Then 2020 happened.  The events of one recent history's most tumultuous years had a dual affect on the band.  It stopped the production of their album "Art of War" in its tracks and forced the them to stop touring.  It was a bleak period for any band, but in the midst of unprecedented times, the band took an action that some might consider unprecedented for them.  They released a cover of a hit Pop song by the Chainsmokers.

In a year where sickness was the root of much tragedy, Weapons of Anew found triumph with "Sick Boy."  During a time when many renowned acts were releasing covers to fill the void, a cover from an underground group broke through the stratosphere.  Weapons of Anew's  cover of "Sick Boy" cracked the top 20 of the Billboard Top 40 and earned airplay from coast to coast.

But that's not where the story ends.  While Weapons of Anew achieved great success in 2020, the global pandemic thwarted their opportunity to capitalize on that success.  Fast forward a few years and the band is starting somewhat anew.  They retooled their lineup  and released a killer new track "Break The Ties" in late 2022.  2023 will bring an even more ambitious endeavor.

Weapons of Anew's latest single "Angel Has Fallen" will hit all streaming platforms this Friday July 21! Featuring the current line up of Freddy Ordine and his partner in music, Reno, with Dunté Mason, Nick Farahvashi and Julius Mendoza, it's the start of something special.  The band released the following statement:

" 'Angel Has Fallen' is the first song in a trilogy of tracks that tie together to tell the story of one's inner struggles and how they can consume and take you over.  The second song is called "Demons" (9/8) and the trilogy concludes with "Take You Down” (10/27).  The Angel has fallen. She knows your Demons. She has come to Take You Down. The trio of songs will be tied together into a long form video. "

We're excited about Weapons of Anew's upcoming audio/visual assault and look forward to turning up the new single on Jersey Rock!  Speaking directly about the upcoming single Weapons of Anew guitar player/co-founder Freddy Ordine said:

“ 'Angel Has Fallen'  is about a girl who had everything going for her and succumbed to the darker things in life. Dancing led to drugs, which led to other horrible things and ultimately she passed. No matter how hard anyone who cared about her tried to help, it didn’t matter. She was too far down the line."

Tune to RAT Radio Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday night at 11:30 pm to hear Weapons of Anew's latest release "Angel Has Fallen." Freddy Ordine will call in to the show each night!

The Best Mussels In Ocean County New Jersey

When it comes to a bowl of mussels, the quality and originality of the sauce is almost more important than the crustacean!

Usually there are two kinds of "broths" if you will, when it comes to a steaming bowl of mussels. Firstly, the traditional tomato based sauce. It's usually either mild or spicy "Fra Dibablo" style. Then there is the "Other" sauce as I called it for years, before I ventured to try it a couple of years ago. That's right, I spend over 40 years eating mussels before I ever tried them the French. Garlic and White Wine style. Now? I love it just as much!

Both sauce styles have variations. Especially the garlic and white wine. Some are clear and thin. Others are thick and almost creamy. Furthermore, depending on the place, you may get a garlic forward bowl of broth - which I personally love (with bits of garlic sticking to the mussels themselves). Or, you could get a very buttery or white wine forward dish.

Personally, when it comes to the tomato based sauce, I waver. One day I might be in the mood for a very spicy dish. On the other hand, I may opt for a very sweet sauce if I'm not feeling the heat that day. One thing is for sure, it's not a good mussels dish without the garlic. Gotta have that smell of the ocean and the clove hitting your nose all at once.

That's one of the great things about an order of mussels. Much like the crustacean, the orders multiply quickly. At least once the aroma of the dish coming to table hits the air! Next thing you know it's mussels all around!! PEI (Prince Edward Island) are the most popular around here. However, honestly, it's not an oyster. It's a mussel, as long as it's fresh, and sauce is bangin', I' don't care if you fished it out of Raritan Bay. Well, maybe I'm not that smart. I'm just a Mussel Head.

I don't want to be shellfish, so here are some of my favorite places for Mussels in Ocean County...In no particular order!
