****RAT NEWS CREW CAPTURES LAKE COMO FIRE AS IT BURNS****
A RAGING FIRE ENGLUFED A HOME AT 1710 SURF AVENUE, ON THE CORNER OF 18TH AVENUE IN LAKE COMO, JUST BLOCKS FROM WRAT STUDIOS.
RAT NEWS CREW VETERANS ATOMIC ROB AND SMILEY KYLI WERE QUICKLY ON SCENE WITH THE RAT NEWS VAN TO TAKE PHOTOS OF THE EVENT AS IT WAS HAPPENING.
BRAVE FIREFIGHTERS FROM BELMAR, WALL AND OTHER SURROUNDING TOWNS CONTINUE TO BATTLE THE BLAZE WHICH ERUPTED AFTER 3:30PM THIS AFTERNOON.
MEANWHILE, THE HEAVY WINDS ARE CURRENTLY HAMPERING FIREFIGHTERS EFFORTS TO GET THE ENOROMOUS BLAZE UNDER CONTROL. THE VICTORIAN STYLE HOME APPEARS TO HAVE SUSTAINED SEVERE DAMAGE IN THE BLAZE. BYSTANDERS TOLD OUR RAT CREW THE HOUSE BURNED QUICKLY, MOST LIKELY BECAUSE OF HOW WINDY IT IS.
FIRE TRUCKS AND EMS VEHICLES COULD BE HEARD FROM BLOCKS AWAY AS THE STREAMED DOWN 18TH AVENUE IN LAKE COMO. MANY OF THE VEHICLES WHIZZED RIGHT PAST THE RAT STUDIOS ON 18TH AND MAIN, ALERTING US TO THE PENDING SITUATION.
FIRST THOUGHTS WERE ANOTHER DEAD WHALE, OR GOD FORBID, PERHAPS A DROWNING. HOWEVER WE QUICKLY REALIZED THIS WAS A BLAZE THAT NEEDED TO BE DEALT WITH IMMEDIATLEY.
ALSO, AS THIS STORY IS BEING WRITTEN, I CAN STILL HEAR FIRE TRUCK SIRENS IN THE DISTANCE. ON-SITE WERE CREWS FROM BELMAR, NEPTUNE, WALL, AVON, GLENDOLA, SEA GIRT, MANASQUAN, SPRING LAKE, AND ASBURY PARK. WE HOPE FOR EVERYONE’S SAFETY AND THANK ALL THE BRAVE FIREFIGHTERS, POLICE AND EMS FOR THEIR EFFORTS.
