The wrestling world mourns the loss today of a highly unique and innovative talent..."Leaping" Lanny Poffo. Lanny was just 68 years old.
Lanny was the brother of Randy "Macho Man" Savage and was a fantastic talent as well. While Randy achieved monumental success and transcendent fame...Lanny had strong contributions to wrestling of his own.
In a time where big guys ruled supreme (mid-to-late-'80's) within the WWE, Lanny was doing moonsaults, flips, and other seldom-seen high-flying maneuvers that were yet to come into fashion (it really wasn't until the late '90's where the airborne style came into fashion).
Lanny also shifted from "Leaping" Lanny Poffo to the bad guy "The Genius"...where he would proclaim how much more intelligent he was than everyone and sometimes read poetry.
Lanny was a very original talent and considered by many in the industry to be a great guy. He will be missed.
