As a proud, nearly 20 year resident of the community of Silverton, on the northeast side of Toms River, I’m so excited to once again enjoy the first Saturday in October at the annual Silverton Volunteer Fire Company’s Fall Festival, Motorcycle Poker Run and 5K Run throughout Silverton. Back after a 2 year Covid hiatus, this is the signature event in the community. It seems everyone, young and old comes out to enjoy the day and have a good time! There will be antique Fire Trucks on display, along with the Toms River Police Motorcycle Unit and Police K-9 demonstrations. Plus the Fire Department will show off their state of the art vehicles and life saving apparatus, along with vehicle extraction demonstrations.
For the Motorcycle Poker Run, organizers are expecting over one hundred bikes! That should be a sight to behold! The day begins with the 8o to 100 mile Motorcycle/Classic car Poker Run. Registration for the run is from 9-11am outside the former Charlie Browns building next to the firehouse, at 11 Kettle Creek Rd. 20 dollars per motorcycle, 10 dollars per additional passenger. 20 bucks per Classic Car or Hot Rod. Prizes will be awarded for the three best poker hands. The 5K run will travel throughout the streets of Silverton. Registration is at 8am at the firehouse, run at 10.
The best part of the Silverton Fall Festival, however, in my opinion, is the party! Oh and it’s going to be one heck of a local bash! With live music from a great local cover band, The Pickles! Plus local vendors, awesome food and soft drinks, BEER!, games and raffles, kiddie rides, and just a great sense of community!
The Silverton Fire Department holds this event and many others throughout the year to raise money to keep our neighborhood safe by staying up to date on equipment and volunteer training. The Department was founded in 1951, and has been serving the community ever since. The festival is this Saturday, October 1st, from 11am til 6pm in the back lot of the firehouse, located at 15 Kettle Creek Road Toms River, NJ 08753,
