New EP Hitting All Streaming Platforms on February 2!
Rocking The Stone Pony's 50th Anniversary Show on Friday February 9!
February is going to be an epic month for fans of the New Jersey music scene. On Friday February 9, Asbury Park's legendary venue The Stone Pony will celebrate 50 years with a very special show! The Rock club tapped one of the most successful New Jersey acts to come out of Asbury Park for the headlining spot on this historic evening. That band is none other than The Parlor Mob! Following a brief hiatus, They're back to help celebrate The Stone Pony's milestone.
Speaking of the upcoming show, drummer Sam Bey said:
"The Pony reached out and it was a no-brainer for us. We love that place and have so much respect for that room. We played some of our first gigs there and we just love the idea of being a part of the celebration. I can't wait."
Tickets for the Stone Pony's 50th Anniversary Show featuring The Parlor Mob are available at ticketmaster via stoneponyonline.com. You can skip the ticket fees by purchasing admission in person at the Stone Pony box office during normal business hours.
While the Stone Pony show is a very welcome surprise for fans of The Parlor Mob, that's not the only thing to look forward to. In mid-January, seemingly out of nowhere, The Parlor Mob's social media came to life, teasing something for February. That something is a new musical offering. A week before they rock The Pony, The Parlor Mob will release "The 06' EP" to all streaming platforms on Friday February 2.
"The 06' EP" features four previously unreleased tracks recorded at Capitol Records in Los Angeles back in 2006. Shortly after The Parlor Mob's recording sessions, Capitol Records merged with Virgin Records and cut a large number of bands. While The Parlor Mob was let go, they were allowed to keep all of their recordings. Those recordings eventually helped get them signed to Road Runner Records. In the interim, the band worked hard to reach their audience, using the most iconic social media platform of the mid-2000's to get their sound out there: myspace.com. The band shared some of the Capital Records tracks with their myspace friends. If you had The Parlor Mob in your "Top 8" you just might have one or two of those previously un-released tracks! No need to go digging for your old laptop, iPod, or burned CD wallet. Just hit up your favorite music streaming platform on February 2 to unlock "The 06' EP"!
We're stoked to turn up all four of those previously unreleased tunes this week on Jersey Rock! Tune to 95.9 The RAT Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30 pm to hear cuts from "The 06' EP." Sam Bey will call in to the show each night!

Ocean County’s Most Work Friendly Cafés And Coffee Shops
Working remotely became a big thing during the pandemic. Folks who were lucky enough to keep their jobs started working from home and had to adjust to the new normal.
Nearly 3 years later, not everyone was ordered to go back to the office. Plenty of folks were told to keep doing what they do from the comfort of their own home office.
For those looking for a change of scenery while still being able to keep up with the demands of the job, wandered out of the boring confines of their home office to find work friendly spaces with good coffee, good food, and likeminded people.
Sometimes it's nice to get out of the home office to clear your head and search for better coffee than that brewing machine you have at home. It’s so much faster and easier to have someone else to whip up a vanilla mochaccino and offer up a variety of sandwiches, croissants, and pastries.

Enter, the local café, and it doesn’t have to be a Starbucks. For heaven’s sake, there’s a Starbucks every few miles in Ocean County! Feel free to go there if wish. Hey, I’ve been known to people watch at the Starbucks located inside Barnes & Noble in Brick.
Truthfully, I’d rather give my money to the local businessperson who I feel will be more eager to please. Good will, good service, and a good product are paramount to keeping patrons coming back.
Plus, a comfortable atmosphere and friendly people help a lot when you have a nice space to do your work.
Perk CafeHave laptop will travel. In my case, have book will travel. In the Winter, I love to sit in a café with my caffeinated beverage and read.
Let’s travel Ocean County to check out cafes and coffee houses that people love.
Revolutionary Lounge & Cafe - 1256 Indian Head Rd, Toms River, NJ 08755
A big favorite among the WRAT staff. Excellent coffee beverages and quite the selection of both vegan and non vegan options. Serving breakfast sandwiches, wraps, apps, soups, salads, and more. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the service is friendly.
My beverage choice at the moment: The Jersey Devil - Chocolate Cherry latte Topped With Cinnamon.
Spire Coffeehouse - 1922 Hooper Ave, Toms River, NJ 08753
Located in The Shoppes at Hooper, Spire has quite the following. Complete with a warm welcoming atmosphere and a great assortment of hot & cold beverages along with an assortment of sweet treats. Scones, brownies, & crumb cake. Clean and comfortable, the friendly folks at Spire would love to have you pay them a visit.
Perk Coffee - 333 US-9, Bayville, NJ 08721
Not only is the atmosphere modern, it's pleasant. The crew at Perk serve fresh sandwiches, a killer avocado toast, and a great assortment of baked goods. They have a wide variety of hot and cold beverages including smoothies.
Offering both indoor and outdoor seating, Perk is where the locals hang. Don't forget to ask about the "Drink Of The Week." The Strawberry Rose & Matcha Tea Latte looks like something very special.
GNM Coffeeshop - 237 S Main St, Barnegat Township, NJ 08005
GNM Coffeeshop - named for its three owners, Geo, Naomi and Manny.
Naomi had noticed there were no specialty coffee shops around the area other than Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, or commuting to LBI, so the 3 owners decided to give Barnegat what they needed.
A friendly crew, gorgeous landscape and a peaceful atmosphere, GNM offers a large variety of coffee, specialty lattes, smoothies, frappes, cold brews and creative seasonal options.
Moreover, GNM offers breakfast sandwiches, grab and go food and pastries from local bakeries.
Charleston Coffee House - 611 County Road #539, New Egypt, NJ 08533
You'll feel right at home at Charleston Coffee House. New Egypt is such hip little town and Charleston Coffee House is a perfect fit with it's serene homey atmosphere. The place smells amazing and the service is outstanding.
A kick ass selection of excellent quality hot & cold beverages and the food is satisfying. Breakfast and lunch sandwiches, acai bowls, baked goods and more.
Divi Tree Coffee - 2615 Bridge Ave, Point Pleasant, NJ 08742
Winners of a WRAT Shore Award, Divi Tree has a chill atmosphere and plenty of places for you and your laptop to cop a squat. Plenty of hot & cold beverage options.
The Frozen Hot Chocolate kicks ass, especially when paired with New Jersey's favorite breakfast sandwich, Pork roll, egg, & cheese on a sweet roll. For Lunch, you have to grab their chicken salad on 7 grain bread.
Totally cool people work here!
Tommy Boy's Cafe - 216 Main St, Toms River, NJ 08753
Located in my neck of the woods, downtown Toms River, Tommy Boy's has a cozy comfortable atmosphere.
You can get everything from breakfast sandwiches to poke bowls. The hot & cold beverages range from simple to super innovative. Grab a fresh pastry with your favorite bev and chill.
The current drink Special of the Month: Espresso PB Caramel Milkshake.
They also have a specials food menu as well. Come to downtown TR and make sure to visit Tommy Boy's Cafe.
Berritazza Cafe - 506 Arnold Ave, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742
I recently found out about this cute cafe the other day. A nice variety of artisan coffees ranging from mild to dark, along with loose leaf teas, smoothies, and other hot & cold beverages, including shakes,
The pastries look delectable, especially the Brazilian cheese bread. I also have my eye on their mouthwatering eats including the Avocado Naan with Tomatoes, Egg, Red Pepper Flake, EVOO, and Balsamic Glaze.
My next book may wind up being read here.
