Jersey Rock Band of the Week: Battle Flag
New Single “SkinWalker” Available Now!
Battle Flag is an Alternative Metal powerhouse with deep influences and deep New Jersey roots! The group formed in 2016 and has been hard at work crafting a sound that can be described as “hard rock with a sprinkle of metal”. They call Rockstar! Studios in Middlesex their home base of operations. There they explore music through a journey of multiple genres, styles, themes, and emotions. The end result is a multi-faceted, original sound buzzing with high energy and held together with harmony. They rock hard!
Battle Flag boasts a powerful lineup that includes drummer Steve O’Neil, bassist and vocals Jake Carrion, and guitarists/vocals and brothers, Steve and David Mondragon. You likely know David from E-Town Concrete and 40 Below Summer. Speaking of the band’s formation Steve Mondragon said:
” Initially formed in 2016 to jam and blow off steam, it took a life of its own and started us on this path of musical ideas and expression through hard rock sprinkled with metal.”
We love that description! Battle Flag’s unique sound is on full display in their latest upcoming “SkinWalker.” It’s available now on all streaming platforms. Written during the height of spooky season in October, it’s quite the chilling track. Speaking of the release, Steve Mondragon said:
“SkinWalker is our fifth single release, all recorded and produced in house at Rockstar! Studios. It will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, and any other streaming platforms.”
We look forward to rocking “SkinWalker this week on Jersey Rock! We’ll also turn up other great singles from Battle Flag’s catalog and chat with Steve O’Neil and Jake Carrion each night! Hear them Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30 pm on 95.9 The RAT!

Here’s Where Ocean County N.J. Orders Food For The Big Game
Catering a house party for the Big Game on February 11, 2024?
What are your plans for food for Sunday?
Are you going it alone, or are you throwing a massive football shindig with friends and family?
What’s up with your food situation? Will you be spending an eternity cooking up a storm in the kitchen?
Most people like doing things the easy way by picking up the phone and calling their favorite caterers or eateries. It’s just too daunting to whip up a fabulous feast. You want to focus on your guests as well as the big game.
If I’m not going to my local pub or favorite sports bar, I’m doing the cooking.
A few years ago, I did an Asian-themed party. I made all kinds of finger food that included a variety of dumplings, including gyoza and shumai. I made a few different varieties of egg rolls too.
I created a bunch of main dishes such as Korean short ribs, beef and broccoli, wonton soup with chicken and spinach, fried rice, General Tso’s chicken, and roast pork buns.
It was an extraordinary amount of work. Even though I love to cook, it was extremely exhausting.
I haven’t made up my mind about what we’re going to do this year. I’m leaning towards staying home and doing something on a much smaller scale.
If I was going to order out, I’d probably call Della Cucina on Route 37 in Toms River. They have some of the best catering in town.
If I was going to do a variety of pizzas, The Slice House on Route 37 in Toms River would get my business. They make a killer broccoli rabe & sausage white pie, not to mention their signature Diablo pie knocks it out of the park.
If you’re planning on bringing food in for your big game gathering, here’s a list of places suggested by the food-loving football fans in Ocean County.
