Jersey Rock Band of the Week: The Azures
Rocking The Stone Pony in Asbury Park on December 1!
The Azures are Pyschedelic Blues Rock group with a commanding stage presence. See them live and you’ll know exactly what we mean. The band’s captivating performance style was on full display at the Point Pleasant Beach Battle of the Bands over the summer. It will no doubt be in full effect on Friday December 1, when they rock The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, and that’s just the start. The band stated:
“Expect the unexpected December 1st. It’ll be The Azures like you’ve never seen them before.”
The added excitement may come from the fact that The Azures will be celebrating the release of their debut self-titled Album. “The Azures” hits all streaming platforms on November 27. The Azures released a comprehensive statement on the upcoming LP:
” The album is our first full length self titled LP and is an ode to the roots of our inspirations, as well as a collective expedition into each band member’s unique creativity. The genre of the album is psychedelic blues rock in nature but contains progressive elements as well as bare bones delta blues. From gritty and tantalizing riffs to intricate polyrhythms and abstract drones, this album demonstrates a combination of vintage and modern psychedelic sounds. The music is complimented by strange yet ethereal lyrics intertwined with obscure poetic prose throughout the album. Overall this album showcases the raw beginnings of The Azures. “
And you can experience all of that in-person at The Stone Pony on December 1st. The Azures will co-headline Asbury Park’s legendary Rock club with Grayson. The stacked bill includes Valentines Day, Heathmonger, Over the Counter, and Starikova Band. Doors are at 6:30 pm. Tickets are just $15 in advance and $18 at the door.
