When he’s not performing with his band The Carousers, Joey Affatato lends his talent to charitable causes. His Bandcamp page “Joey Does Artwork” hosts compilations to help those in need. Most recently, he put out a massive compilation to help those affected by the covid-19 pandemic. On 10/2 he’ll release a brand new compilation for another worthy cause. “Play For Purpose” features over 30 artists of varying musical genres. It includes Jersey Rock veterans like The Cryptkeeper 5, Connor Bracken and the Mother Leeds Band, and , of course, The Carousers. The effort is to raise money for Eden Autism in Princeton.
Eden Autism is a non-profit organization focused on “improving the lives of individuals with autism spectrum disorder.” The organization, now in its 45th year, was one of the first providers to address the lifelong needs of people with autism. Eden Autism provides such important services as early education, recreation, community integration, employment training and placement, and later life care. The organization aims to “improve the lives of people with autism – one individual at a time, one family at a time, one community at a time.” It is an invaluable resource for those facing autism.
Each year Eden Autism hosts a fundraiser for its many programs. That fundraiser ususally involves a 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk. In the midst of the covid-19 pandemic that event has gone virtual. You can register for the fundraiser and donate HERE. Learn more on the facebook event page.
Joey Affatato has a personal connection to Eden Autism. His brother Alex is enrolled there. He decided to create “Play For Purpose” to aid Eden Autism in its annual fundraising effort, which has been somewhat handicapped by the coronavirus outbreak. Affatato teamed with DIMM Entertainment and Hell Minded Records to line up over 30 acts for an epic multi-genre compilation. 100% of all donations will go to Eden Autism. You can donate and grab the compilation on 10/2 at joeydoesartwork.bandcamp.com.
Tune to Jersey Rock on 95.9 The Rat Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30 to hear cuts from “Play For Purpose.” We’ll rock NJ bands The Cryptkeeper Five, Have A Good Season, and The Carousers. Joey Affatato will call in to the show each night!
