FAIRFAX, CA - DECEMBER 13: The Google Maps app is seen on an Apple iPhone 4S on December 13, 2012 in Fairfax, California. Three months after Apple removed the popular Google Maps from its operating system to replace it with its own mapping software, a Google Maps app has been added to the iTunes store. Apple Maps were widely panned in tech reviews and among customers, the fallout resulting in the dismissal of the top executive in charge of Apple's mobile operating system. Story:

Dateline, Germany.  A guy in Berlin pulled around a red wagon with 99 active smartphones in it… Why?  To create a fake traffic jam on Google Maps.

Each of the map features on each phone was launched and location was detecting….

And he was walking slowly with his red wagon… So what Google saw and translated on their servers was 99 slow moving cars on the roads…

And sure enough… the Google maps showed big red stretches where he had his wagon… because it translated 99 cars going slowly as a… traffic jam.

What else could it be?  Except maybe some smart-aleckey concept-artist dragging a bunch of smart phones in a little red wagon.
