East Side Dave’s Top 5 July 4th Songs!
We hope you’re having a fantastic (and safe) Independence Day! Now let’s ROCK…for America!
As an ode to the glorious country that begat rock ‘n’ roll itself, we’ve put together a list…East Side Dave’s Top 5 July 4th Songs!
What are the stipulations? Good question.
A.) These are awesome tracks that rock. And B.) They have some kind of American theme going on. And that’s it.
So, without further ado, let’s get to the list! And make sure you’re playing these clips LOUDLY! God bless America!

5.) “Freedom” by Rage Against The Machine
You can’t have independence without freedom, dawg! And no one sends this message out louder and clearer than Rage!
4.) “Don’t Tread On Me” by Metallica
This cut by the metal legends screams out, “Don’t mess with the U.S.A.”
3.) “4th Of July” by Soundgarden
It’s slow, heavy, and hugely patriotic, baby. The late, great Chris Cornell and the rest of Soundgarden provide this dark and amazing ode to Independence Day.
2.) “Star-Spangled Banner” by Jimi Hendrix
It’s Jimi. It’s Woodstock. It’s the National Anthem. It’s very difficult to get more American than this.

1.) “Rockin’ In The Free World” by Neil Young
This classic has stunning guitars, haunting lyrics, and incredible energy. It has also become synonymous with rock and America. This version, captured at the 1993 MTV Music Video Awards, also features Neil’s friends, Pearl Jam, helping out with the tune!
Hope you all have a wonderful July 4th! ROCK ON!!
