Judge Dodges Jury Duty with Bold Claim: “Everybody that comes in front of me, They’re Guilty”
We all know getting called or getting that letter telling us to go into jury duty is never fun, but when you’re a judge and you get called in you probably should not be saying stuff like this.
Here is the story a judge in upstate New York was just forced to resign, after he made some wild statements during a jury screening process, where he was going to be a juror.
His name is Richard T. Snyder, and in court transcripts, he said he was a judge, but that he could NOT be on the juror list. He also added this, “I know everybody that comes in front of me THEY’RE GUILTY! They would not be in front of me if they were innocent.” Of course, he was dismissed from the case. But the judge in that case reported him to state officials.
A judicial commission interviewed him, and Richard said, that he “understood that defendants are supposed to be considered innocent until proven guilty, but that he still felt that people wouldn’t be in court if they didn’t commit crimes,” according to reports. Richard was forced to resign, and agree to never serve as a judge again.
Gotts’ Thoughts On This Story
I believe if we have to be doing our part of jury duty, this judge should be doing his part as well. I still remember hearing about celebrities, such as Kim Kardashian, Taylor Swift, and actress Reese Witherspoon who even do jury duty. Even Ex-President Barack Obama, showed up in Chicago, for jury duty back in the day. CHECK OUT THE VIDEO:
