Benefit For Mom Battling Cancer To Be Held June 22nd At Tiger Schulmann’s In Brick
A benefit for a Brick Township Mom battling breast cancer will be held at Tiger Schulmann’s Martial Art studio, located at 905 Route 70 in Brick on Saturday, June 22nd, from 2 pm until 3:30 pm. Joey Marie Ferranti, a member of the studio since 2020, was diagnosed with the disease earlier this year. Since that time Ferranti and her husband Vito found out that health insurance will not cover the double mastectomy that is required to hopefully eradicate cancer.
What Is Scheduled For The Fundraiser?
The event will start after the normal Saturday classes at Tiger Schulmann conclude at 2 pm. There will be a bake sale, as well as a raffle for wonderful baskets that are being donated by friends, family, and the local community. The entire public is not only welcome but encouraged to attend and donate to help out Joey and her family. Joey’s type of breast cancer, while found early, is a very aggressive form of the disease. So the more money we can raise in these early stages without the help of insurance will go far in ensuring Joey has every advantage she will need during and after her planned double mastectomy, that her doctors have informed her is her best course of action for a full recovery. In addition to the benefit on June 22nd, a Go Fund Me Page has been set up for anyone wishing to donate to Joey’s cause in that manner.

The Battle Is Real.
As of Wednesday may 29th, Joey has signed her consent forms for her operation. She received her itemized bill for 30k, and that’s just the beginning. She will meet with the plastic surgeon and will await the surgery date. She also had the Genetic testing done and it was negative. According to Joey’s sister Jacqueline Domingues, “The cancer is Stage 0 which is a relief but we found out it’s Grade 3 which is aggressive. We found out her right breast had been taken hostage by a mass, and our hopes for a simple lumpectomy were dashed. Joey will need a double mastectomy. The timing of this is unfortunate because Joey and her husband have been in a month’s long battle with their insurance company, the result of which leaves them uninsured. Joey is a full time mommy to three little ones and although Vito’s work is seasonal, he will be needing to take time off to care for Joey and the kids. I started this Go-Fund-Me to to help Joey and Vito with their impending medical bills. Let’s rally around Joey and donate what we can to help her focus on her health and family. Please, find it in your hearts to help my little bigger sister. We all know she would do the same. THANK YOU XOXO”
