Major WWE News–Raw Going To Netflix In 2025 & The Rock Joins TKO
Wow! We’ve got some breaking wrestling news for fans of the squared circle! The WWE just announced that, in an unprecedented move, they will move their flagship television show, Monday Night Raw, to Netflix beginning in January of 2025…shocking wrestling fans and experts around the globe!
This certainly is a game-changer. While the WWE has been in the streaming business for years now…both the WWE Network and Peacock (where the WWE Network is now located) broadcast live pay-per-views (WrestleMania, SummerSlam, The Royal Rumble, etc.)…but they have not been in the weekly episodic TV game. Until now (and after a decades-long relationship with the USA Network). And it is reported that WWE CEO Nick Khan got an insane $5 billion for the deal in which Netflix will have Raw rights for ten years. Amazing number for Khan and the WWE. As for the fans, I’m sure some WWE loyalists will be pretty ticked off at now having to subscribe to a service to watch Raw. Other fans seem pretty happy to be on such a big platform as Netflix.

And that’s not all! WWE ALSO announced that the Rock has joined TKO…the new company that has merged WWE and UFC under one, huge banner. The Rock has been named to the board of directors at TKO and is expected to consult with the WWE. Pretty insane from a guy who received “Rocky sucks” chants early in his run around 1997. Flash-forward to 2024, and he’ll be one of the people running the company. Crazy.

In any event…one can barely argue that the WWE is on FIRE right now. They’ve made one great decision after another. Whether it’s the intelligent signings like CM Punk and Cody Rhodes…who have both created major buzz and business for the WWE…the creative decisions in making really fun-to-watch episodes of Raw and Smackdown (primarily by Triple H, the new head of creative)…or the brilliant business decisions of Nick Khan…the WWE has insanely positive momentum right now. We’ll see if Netflix and the Rock can continue it.
