The Most Annoying Commercial On The Planet Just Got More Annoying
Long known as the most annoying commercial in the world, the Kars for Kids commercial just got more annoying.
Yeah so the most annoying commercial in the world just got more annoying. What commercial am I talking about? That’s the Kars for Kids commercial. You know it. You hate it. Well, most people hate it. I know I DIVE FOR THE BUTTON WHEN I HEAR THAT AD. Well, it got more annoying because some classical pianist decided that the Kars For Kids commercial would sound better if it had a different background. He recorded it with a classical piano intro. It’s here in The Pit.
If you’re asking me the only thing that would make this commercial jingle sound better would be a the weeeoohh-weeeohh of a fire engine as it sped on by to take care of a mysterious fire that broke out at the studio where this awful commercial was recorded.
Too much?
Just what exactly is a Kar for Kids anyway? Actually, as bad as their jingle is the charity sounds like it’s pretty darn cool. The charity’s goal is “to fund educational, developmental and recreational programs for low-income youth” .
I mean you can’t get any more honorable than that.
In fact, our own East Side Dave claims to have donated a car to Kars for Kids. “I got a thousand bucks from it, for a crappy Saturn. It was great. I enjoyed the Kars For Kids experience. I thought it was good!”
According to their website, the claim to have touched the lives of over 32,000 kids. This charity not only accepts cars as donations. They also accept airplanes, real estate, and boats. They describe the process as pretty simple. First you tell them about the car, plane, or home you’d like to give them. They schedule a pick up time that works for you. Then they work with their auction partners to sell the donation. Then they send you a tax receipt for your tax deduction this year. They also say that you’ll get a vacation voucher.
Well, all that sounds really cool. Which is more than I can say for the Kars for Kids commercial new version:
Vintage Gadgets: Outdated Tech That Still Sparks Joy
Best Buy has announced that starting in 2024, following this holiday season, they will discontinue the sale of DVDs, Blu-rays, and 4K Ultra HD discs, both in their physical stores and online. They have said the reason for this decision is due to the increasing popularity of streaming services. This move aligns with the prevailing trend, as more people turn to streaming for their entertainment needs.
Physical Media
Physical media does come with certain inconveniences, such as taking up space and limited mobile accessibility. But there are still people who appreciate the more traditional way of enjoying movies and music. There are some advantages of owning Blu-rays and DVDs. These include owning what you buy and having bonus content you can’t get anywhere else.
Pagers!
In the ’90s, owning a pager was considered a status symbol and a fashion statement. Today, it’s even possible to purchase a fully functional vintage Motorola pager from online marketplaces like eBay.
Outdated but not obsolete.
With the widespread use of mobile phones and free calling applications that offer unlimited calls via Wi-Fi, traditional landlines may eventually become obsolete. However, the complete phasing out of this technology may take some time. This is because certain regions or countries still contend with unreliable internet or cellular coverage. As of August 2023, Community Phone reports that approximately 40.35 million households in the United States still maintain landline phones, and 38.1 million households have both a landline and a cell phone.
For some people, “new” technology doesn’t always mean “better.” On Reddit, a user started a discussion thread asking, “What outdated or obsolete tech are you still using and are perfectly happy with?” The thread received more than 16,000 responses from people who shared the outdated everyday items they still happily use. Check some of them out below.
When Carl is not working at the greatest rock radio station known to mankind; a station known around the globe; a station that has the best music, co-workers, advertisers and most importantly THE BEST F'N LISTENERS you may find me doing any one of the following: Riding or making mountain bike trails. playing with his kids. playing sand volleyball on 5th Ave, cooking amazing food, including on his sweet smoker grill, going to concerts, swimming in the ocean, going to amusement parks with his kids, and other stuff that rocks!
