This Place in Teaneck NJ Might Be Worth The 80 Mile Trip
There’s a place in Teaneck, New Jersey that looks so good, it may be worth the 80-mile trip from Toms River.
Back on July 29,th National Chicken Wing Day, I came across a review from a guy named Jeff Ananson. I’ve never met Jeff, but I feel like I know him. I’ve read many of his reviews on a variety of places across the Garden State. Jeff knows where good food is. He’s the guy who introduced me to Steve’s Burgers in Garfield. Thanks Jeff!
He knows where to get the best hot dogs in Jersey as well as pizza, & chicken wings. Jeff has turned me on to a variety of places without even realizing it.
Jeff is not alone, there are a lot of passionate food lovers out there that I give credit to for opening my eyes to places that I never knew existed.
Where In Teaneck, New Jersey Did Jeff Go?
On July 29, Jeff posted a review of a Korean place called, Mama Hen House, located at 1364 Teaneck Rd, Teaneck, NJ 07666. Every photo he posted made me hungry, especially the soy garlic wings which he called some of the best around. I trust his palate.
Here’s what Jeff wrote after his trip to Mama Hen House, “Soy garlic wings from Mama Hen House in Teaneck. These were some of the best soy garlic wings around. We also had some Korean Ramyun with mushroom, Bulgogi Kimbap, Spicy Tuna Kimbap and Yuja iced tea. Everything was delicious. A lot of things are made in house. Everything was high quality, fresh and delicious. Come see Jenny and her parent’s restaurant for a great experience. Supporting small businesses Warriors approved.”
I saw the photo of the Ramyun which looks similar to Ramen, so I looked it up and found that Ramyun, also known as ramen in Japanese cuisine, it’s a popular Korean dish that consists of instant noodles in a savory broth. The noodles are typically made from wheat flour and are thin and curly in shape. Ok, pretty much the same thing.
I’ve heard of Kimbap which reminds me of sushi, but never knew exactly what it was so I looked it up. The word “kimbap” comes from the Korean words “kim” (seaweed) and “bap” (rice), highlighting its two main components. It was influenced by Japanese sushi but adapted to Korean tastes and ingredients, making it distinct from traditional Japanese sushi. The origins date back to the 20th century.
What Else Is On The Menu?
The menu offers Korean Fried Chicken, Bulgogi in a variety of ways. Bulgogi is thinly sliced soy marinated grilled rib eye as well as chicken katsu (fried chicken cutlet), spicy rice cakes, coleslaw, and good old French fries.

They offer a regular menu and a premium menu. The regular menu is where you can find Korean fried chicken, spicy pork, and shrimp tempura. They also have soups, sandwiches, and fruit add-ons.
Other than the Korean BBQ place called K-Pot on Route 37 in Toms River, Ocean County doesn’t have a place like Mama Hen’s.
So it looks like I’ll be hitting the road for my hour plus ride to Teaneck.
