Jersey Rock Band of the Week: Spyne!
Rocking the Stone Pony in Asbury Park on December 28!
For some, the time between Christmas and New Years is a veritable twilight zone of gatherings, get-togethers, and getaways in which time itself can lose all meaning. Those enjoying a winter vacation may not know what time, day, or even year it is. Others may experience the same phenomena due to working extra hours to cover for those enjoying the season. While it is easy to lose track of time during this stretch, we highly recommend you don’t. Instead, mark your calendar for Thursday December 28 and get ready for an epic night of Rock in Asbury Park!
That evening Spyne! will host their Rockin’ Christmas show with Personal Space and Ultraviolet. Spyne! is an American rock band formed in New Jersey in 2021. The band includes frontman and rhythm guitarist Kyle Moyer, drummer Eric Muhler, his brother and lead guitarist Liam Muhler, and bassist Toni Manousos. The band draws their influences from across the spectrum of RAT Rock, specifically focusing on the era between the 90’s and 2000’s. Those who regularly crank 95.9 and 107.9 FM should definitely be pleased with their Grunge-infused sound and stage presence. Speaking on the upcoming Stone Pony show, Kyle Moyer said:
“We are excited to play at the Stone Pony for the third time, this time as the headlining act. We will be performing all of our originals, along with popular holiday and rock covers.”
Don’t miss Spyne!’s Rockin’ Christmas Show at The Stone Pony on December 28. Doors are at 6pm. Tickets are $15. Score them at the Stone Pony Box Office, stoneponyonline.com or message Spyne! on social media to get in the door!
Spyne! Currently has 6 singles available and is working on a full-length album. Keep an eye out for that release in 2024. In the meantime, stay on top of everything the band is doing via their linktree page!
Tune to Jersey Rock on 95.9 The RAT Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30 pm to hear 3 great singles from Spyne!. Kyle Moyer will call in to the show each night!

The Cream of the Crop: 7 Must-Try Ice Cream Spots In Ocean County
Happy National Ice Cream Day! I’m not sure why there’s a National Ice Cream Day in the middle of December when we have one in July.
The next one falls on July 21, 2024.
Thanks to President Reagan, we celebrate National Ice Cream Day every third Sunday in July.
According to National Today.com, President Ronald Reagan wanted to commemorate a treat enjoyed by over 90 percent of the US population. In 1984, he decreed a day for ice cream, and his proclamation actually glorified the dairy industry in America.
In fact, Americans still lead the world when it comes to eating this frozen delight: 23 gallons a year to be precise. President Reagan also proclaimed July as National Ice Cream month, describing ice cream as ‘‘a nutritious and wholesome food enjoyed by over ninety percent of the people in the United States.
A whole month and an extra day during the year here in the United States to celebrate this incredible frozen treat.
It’s almost Summer in Australia, I hope they have at least one day to celebrate ice cream.
What’s not to love about something made with cream, butter fat, milk, and sugar? Then of course those extra fabulous ingredients that flavor this favorite frozen dessert.
I’m a chocolate girl myself. My sister always liked vanilla and pistachio, my 2 least favorite flavors.
I tried making a Baked Alaska once, but it flopped. Never again.
A Baked Alaska consists of your favorite ice cream flavor layered between a slice of sponge cake and a covering of meringue that is browned in either an oven at high heat or by a butane culinary torch.
Baked Alaska is really just a fancy dessert created to impress your guests. I’d rather have an ooey gooey ice cream sundae with my favorite toppings, hot fudge, and a choice of sauces, like marshmallow.
To celebrate National Ice Cream Day, we’re going to give you a few places in Ocean County to enjoy some of the best ice cream in the area. Even if it is December.
