Silverton’s Fall Fest Returns October 5th
Silverton’s Fall Festival Returns Saturday, October 5th to the grounds of the Silverton Volunteer Fire Company Station 29, from 11 am until 6 pm. The annual event is a coming together of the community, held by the beloved fire department that has been saving lives and serving Silverton since 1951.
What’s On Tap For This Year’s Festival?
The event will begin with the traditional 5K run through Silverton. According to the Silverton Fire Department’s website, The day will kick off with race check-in at 8 AM, individuals can also do same-day registration. The 1-mile fun run will start promptly at 9:30 AM. The 5K will follow with a start time of 10 AM. Awards will be given to the top male/female overall and the top 3 males/females in designated age groups. Results will be available as runners cross the finish line, and the ceremony will be held in person following the race! After both races end, our Annual Fall Festival will kick off starting at 11 AM featuring a variety of vendors, live music, raffles, food & drinks, vehicle extrication demonstrations, and more! This event will provide much support for our fire department and most importantly bring the community together as a whole!
Meanwhile, a motorcycle Poker Run will be held as well. Registration will be at the firehouse, on 15 Kettle Creek Road, from 9 am until 11 am. Bikes, Hot Rods, and Classic Cars are all welcome! The cost is as follows: $25 per entry/Poker Hand, $10 per passenger/Poker Hand, and $20 per auto/Poker Hand. In the past, there have been 80 to 100 bikes taking part!
There will be plenty of good times for sure. I can attest to that! My family and I live in the area and always make it a point to attend. Every year this event gets better and better. In recent years the beer selection has gotten a major upgrade thanks to a local craft brewery taking part. Plus there are local restaurants selling food, along with the fire department doing burgers and dogs, plus last year we enjoyed an array of Jersey Shore Food Trucks. The live music is always the highlight of the afternoon. A great local rock band is always hired to jam all day long and keep the crowd rockin’. Even the Rat shows up for a couple of hours with games and giveaways! Plus there will be a ton of local vendors selling everything from jewelry, to sports memorabilia and more!
We’ll update this story as warranted, to let you know what food trucks, and bands will be there, along with any other surprises in-store!

About The Silverton Volunteer Fire Department.
According to the Fire Department Website, In September 1950, a meeting was held in the small community of Silverton, comprised of dedicated men who shared a common goal: to protect the lives and property of their neighbors. That was the beginning of what became the Silverton Volunteer Fire Company # 1, Station 29.
By January 1951, the idea had become a reality. The company, now incorporated, selected George Herbert to be its Chief. Construction began on the firehouse until it’s completion in January 1953. During this time meetings were held at the members’ homes as well as the community center. The hard work of the founders paid off in January 1954, when the Dover Township Board of Fire Commissioners formally recognized our company.
This year 2024, the company celebrates 73 years of service and recognizes its members for their unselfish, tireless dedication to their community. Through our numerous activities, a fire explorer program, Easter egg hunts, Santa Run, Flower sales, Chinese auctions, food and toy drives, dances, public safety day and most of all saving lives and property. We will continue the proud tradition of the Silverton Volunteer Fire Co #1.
